Lol at Kevin Covais singing. I think Paris sounded the best. Ace's tone was strange, and Mandisa tried to belt out Santa Claus is Coming to Town.

How did Kevin make the Top 12. No, Top 11, again? I thought Paris sounded pretty good. Mandisa did her thing. Ace needs a more intimate setting for his voice to do its thing. And if they can sing with all of that around them....a mechanical frog? Please! Katharine's got it made! Not to mention she gets to sing HER OWN SONG BY HERSELF!

While we know they can all sing (very well)--they were lip-synching there. Or, at least it appeared that way, unless GoFish was a small fraction delayed as Youtube vids sometimes are. At a huge performance outdoors, Disney probably requires performers to "sing with themselves" (or click-tracking)--which means they're singing, but their mics are turned down to let the studio track dominate. That almost always happens when performers have to dance around on stage or performing to 50,000 people outside. Anyway, thanks for that. I don't usually watch the Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade show either due to busy family activities that morning--though I think Ryan Seacrest was co-host, wasn't he? So this was a truly Idol Christmas this year for many people who were there or tuned in. I doubt Kat will ever have to work Christmas Day a single day in her life now. If the other idols can sing around dancing gingerbread men and overracting Disney backup dancers, then I'm sure Kat can do fine with an animated frog behind her. The only difference is that the idols here were singing songs that related to those characters. 'Better Off Alone' doesn't relate at all to frogs or pure water--but I'm still not worried at all about it. Kat's performance will likely be so intense, nobody will care about the surroundings...even if Kermit was sitting nearby.

Aren't they great? For those who are old enough to remember, Mandisa reminds me of Mahalia Jackson. That would be a HUGE compliment. I think she is a powerhouse. Paris has been signed by Columbia and I hope she does very very well. Katharine's stature is so far above these group performances, frogs not withstanding. Kevin is soo funny, I thought he fit right in with the Disney image lol, and Ace always looks and sounds wonderful.l

^I think I made a mistake when I said Paris was signed to Columbia. That was just a rumor. She's signed with an independent label that her mother is on.

I thought they did a good job! I agree that Kevin Covais should think of something else as a good career move, but he gave it his best. Paris sounds good, she's got a good voice, just needs to be seasoned a little. Mandisa has a very strong church voice, I'll bet if we were to see her singing at her church, she'd probably bring the house down. Ace sounded good too. I think the group as a whole represented how good the fifth Idol season was.
