I have heard that there are going to be THREE phone lines per contestant tonight. If this is true, it is IMPERATIVE that we balance the load to maximize the votes getting through. Without going into a complex technical explanation, please believe me when I say that the contestant with the most balanced load on the phone lines WILL be able to receive the MOST VOTES. I didn't think to mention it before, but last week Chris had the most UNBALANCED lines of all 4 contestants. Taylor and Elliott had the most balanced, followed by Kat. I propose two solutions to this problem:

#1 We need to start off balanced.  Let's start assigning alphabeticly by your name.

For those dialing ONE PHONE use first name.
For those dialing on TWO PHONES use first name for one, last name for the other.
For those dialing on THREE PHONES each phone dials each number.

names starting with a thru g dial FIRST Kat number.
names starting with h thru o dial SECOND Kat number.
names starting with p thru z dial THIRD Kat number.

#2 I will monitor the three lines through live dialidol busy statistics, and I will post a message if we need to rebalance the lines. If that happens I will say something like "NAMES STARTING WITH A PLEASE MOVE TO THIRD NUMBER". Please do not change numbers on your own, and PLEASE DO NOT POST. Just check every 15 minutes or so for instructions. I will only tell people to change if it looks like the lines are getting significantly unbalanced. Hopefully there will me no need for additional instructions!

THANKS FOR READING THIS MESSAGE. I WILL POST IT AT IDOLFORUMS, BUT I DON'T WANT TO POST IT ON AI, SO KAT PACK MEMBERS PLEASE TELL EVERYONE TO COME HERE TO READ IT.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Can someone from the East Coast post Kat's phone numbers as soon as you know them, so that we on the West Coast can vote early with you?

Our host always posts the numbers at the top of the site when the show is ending on the east coast. But you can't vote in our time slot; AI locks your area code out- you won't be able to get through. They do the samething to us, when our time is over we can't get through anymore either.

The first number is normally much busier because most of the people tend to pick the first number just for convenience. With your method, it is hard for those who have been assigned a busy line to keep getting busy for 15 min without trying the second or third line.

My usual way of doing is:

1. Store all the numbers in separate speed-dialing locations.
2. Dial the first number. If it can get through, keep using this number until you get into a busy signal.
3. If I get 3 consecutive busy signals, I switch to another line. If it can get through, hold on to the line.
4. By doing this, I can managed to get about 300 to 500 votes per phone in 2 hours with 2 lines. With 3 hours and 3 lines, we might be able to get up to 800 votes per phone.

I agree that if everyone did that it probably would work out well, but the fact is that the lines DO get unbalanced and stay unbalanced. We therefore need someway of rebalancing-hence we need control of which number people dial. Last week Kat had 65.3% busy on the first line, and 62.3% busy on the second line- a very significant difference of 3% And Chris had 69.5% on the first line and 61.5% busy on the second line, a whopping 8 percent difference. I'd hate to think what would of happened if Chris' lines were balanced at 65.5% each! That 8 percent imbalance lost Chris a ton of votes.

I just want to concentrate on text voting for Kat. I am not even going to try dialing the numbers unless my cell phone dies again. Then I don't want to waste my time rebooting the cell and seconds are wasted from not getting through.

I agree with your analysis too. But do you think KMF and IDF combined can significantly impact the overall percentage balance of the lines? We probably need humongous of calls to move 0.1% either way. But we can try tonight to see if you can actually steer and balance the overall percentage of the 3 lines. You really need to monitor and coordinate well to be successful.
