She sang the song I wanted Katharine to sing.  I believe Katharine would have done a WHOLE lot better.  Whatever, Katharine still blew her out of the water.

No, kellie didn't come close to living up to the great Patsy Cline, but then not many can. It's funny how the judges usually chastise the contestants when they sing a song by a great singer and pale by comparison. They seemed to let Ms Pickler slide tonight. I'd like to hear Katharine sing a Patsy sony ("Crazy" and "I Fall to Pieces" are my favs), but she just seems so comfy singing jazz and R&B. Kat also reminds me a bit of Linda Ronstadt. I think she could really nail some of Ronstadt's classic hits like "Heat Wave" and "Tracks of my Tears".

Yeh, "Crazy" and "I Fall To Pieces" were 60's. That is why I wanted "Walking After Midnight". I really wish she wasn't compared to Barbara Streisand and Linda Ronstadt types. I don't think either of those appeal to the mainstream audience, which is what she needs to win the competition. I'm not saying she doesn't sound fabulous singing them, but she eventually needs to sing something that will be a hit on the radio.

I agree 100%. She needs to sing at least a few crowd pleasing hits to win. Carrie's big breakout week was her redition of Heart's "Alone". I'm thinking Kat can maybe tackle a little Celine Dion???

Hmm. I don't know if I would want her to sing Celine. Celine, Martina McBride, Whitney Houston, Mariah and those types are on another level (a level that Katharine will reach eventually). Even after Carrie did an awesome job of Independence Day, I was still thinking, "ain't nobody outsinging Martina on that song". I think a Christina Augilera (sp?) song or maybe a Shakira song would be nice to hear her sing. Of course I would love to see her dance to "My hips don't lie" .

I think you are misunderestimating our girl.  I believe Kat could sing Celine or Mariah or Whitney now. Don't know much about Martina  except "Independence Day", and that song with it's belted chorus is more suited to Carrie (loved her version BTW) than Katharine. I don't think we've even heard Kat in a full belt yet. She has a such a well controlled, pure toned and powerful "head" voice. Sometimes I get the felling that she's purposely holding back until later in the competion.

That may very well be true. But if you are going to sing a Diva song, it better be as good or better than the Diva, or America will not like it. I did see where everyone is scared that they will pick the same song as Katharine. So maybe she really is holding back. What a woman...

I'm not very happy with her either. Katharine would've done a way better job with that song. And Kellie's dumb blonde act is getting a little annoying.
