These are the numbers for this past week . Soundscan released info today.
Carrie Underwood had 292,000 in sales, She is number 4
Chris had 250,000 in sales to be at number 8

Taylor was not in the top 10 for sales

 

Carrie's #s are incredible after 58 weeks. This puts Chris over 1 million sold. But it seems that TH is tanking badly. I'm not surprised at all. I think Bo Bice #s will be where he ends up.

Thank you for the stats. WOW Chris made platinum, GREAT!! and for Carrie AMAZING. I don't think anybody is surprised about Tay Tay. Even Donna Reynolds slammed alot of his album. Just from the few iffy reviews I have read about Katharine's preview tracks, I'm getting very nervous about her sales stats already.

Nervous is ok. I just don't want to set my sights too high. It will all be about long term for Kat. And from the buzz she is getting without her CD even out I have never been more confident about her future than I am right now. She will do great. I am certain of it.

It appears we will get fresh SoundScan numbers today in time for a late afternoon (ET) post. (If you saw anything on the topic at Billboard.com — which has now been pulled down — or elsewhere, it’s based on preliminary numbers based in turn on incomplete data, so the numbers will change.)

Every one knows carrie is on fire with how many awards she is taking home and with the fact she tops the charts for weeks and month probably now!!


I am pretty sure with all of our great support kat will be just as good!!!!

I don't like to think that Katharine's accomplishments will be as good as Carrie's, because there is little worse than disappointment. We really should keep our expectations lower, even though we know that Kat is better vocally than most artists out there. There is just no way to gauge the mood of the CD-buying population.

Why does do people compare kat to every one esle, she is in a leauge of her own, don.t put to much on record sales, she will be fine, carrie is country and chris is rock, carrie"s voice is OK, and chris"s voice stinks, always yelling a song, kat is so much better voice wise, just got a autographed picture of her, only 4000, were put out, what a beauty!

Also - Kat is going for the more general pop population - Carrie has been embraced by Country music fans - a very different group than what Kat is going for.

Hicks' album debuted last week at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 but drops this week to No. 15.

Haha... not surprised at all about Tay Tay... I knew he would bomb because the man cannot sing. Bless his heart, he is a gifted entertainer but everyone knows his voice blows. As for Kat, she will do great even if the success if not immediate (I have confidence it will be). As for Carrie, I am seeing her New Years Eve!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just saw somewhere online (Scarborough country? Long video on "renting an idol") that Carrie has the top price of $300,000 per pivate performance. Taylor was $150,000. (Or was that Kelly Clarkson? Carrie, Kellie, Kelly - I get confused) It will take a while but I bet that by next New Year Katharine will be the queen of the private concert.

See the Scarborough video thread "Idol's for Hire", Taylor gets 150k for a private party. Looks like he may be doing this in a regular basis given his albums sales........

Taylor went gold in just two weeks...that's pretty darn good. Not even Daughtry did that. Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in chart position as opposed to actual sales...

If you add Chris' first weeks sales with his sales this week, he would have gone gold. Just saying...

There's no way Taylor will go platinum in 5 weeks.

Besides, Most kat fans are carrie fans too... So, i doubt nothing on her..

Taylor is at 500K for two weeks.  That's pretty good.  Now those two weeks were right in front of Christmas.  I think his sales are going to fall off a cliff in the coming weeks.  Because it isn't a good sign that he dropped from 298K to 202K in a week where everyone was going up.  Chris' week #5 outdid Taylor's week #2.  Mighty impressive on Chris' part.

I just don't understand how THE AMERICAN IDOL can release an album without a single going to radio or a music video.  I don't get it.  I guess they felt he had to get the album out before Christmas.  Who knows?  Although Chris didn't really have a dedicated single or video either on his release date but "It's Not Over" started to get played in a lot of places after the album was released.
