We'll be playing them for the first time 15 minutes after this post, 12:20 a.m. central time. Anyone know which of these songs is the actual radio single? That way, we can make it eligible to chart.

Finally got to hear them!!! Thank you idol waves.

I like dangerous a lot more than i lost you. But I still do not love either of them, but im sure they will grow on me just like Over It and Eachother....always likes Open Toes.

They will play again around 3 a.m. central time ... We play the Idol Waves Top 20 Countdown show back-to-back for our overseas listeners around this time on Tuesday. Before the show starts again around 3 a.m., I have both of Kat's songs in there :-)

Thanks, Kenndawg, for the alert here around the 10:00 p.m. hour. If it wasn't for that, there'd be begging (and playing dead or rolling over) going on here between members to have them sent to their PM box.  Fortunately, I caught them and turned up my speakers to be able to hear every nuance and word.

I enjoyed hearing some of the other idol songs on there while waiting for Kat's songs to be played. Lisa Tucker's 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree' I hadn't heard before...and it was not bad. In fact, a lot of those people who were eliminated on past 'AI' seasons sounded quite good on those songs you were playing. Though I'm not sure how Bianca Ryan fits into the Idol format...even though I guess you're connecting the idea that Simon Cowell produces the show she came from.

A little recommendation to others who have trouble setting up the Idolwaves media player: Do it through Internet Explorer only. I'm usually on Firefox--and it needed a plug-in that wouldn't work. On IE--it works instantly after you select the plug-in (Active X control) to be downloaded. On a high-speed line, the player gets set up in under a minute. Be prepared to hear occasional ads though. Obviously, Idolwaves has to make money somehow.

As I just said in the other thread about the singles: The jukebox isn't perfect sound, so don't expect CD quality. But it's much better than hearing a sound sample through Walmart's site or something similar. I'm looking forward to hearing Kat's voice more up front and center. And now that these are officially leaked early (unfortunately)--I expect some media site will tweak them so you can hear Kat's voice more up front. I don't know why they'd bother when there's only seven days until this is in Walmart stores...if not already in your area. But seven days is an eternity for some in Katville.

Hey GC, long time no speak. I was fortunate enough to get a medium quality "sampling" (read cd rip) that plays at 320 kB/sec. She sounds incredible and the production quality is top notch. I'll be buying at least a half dozen of this excellant debut of her new sound as stocking stuffers.

^Hey, Katsdawg. I remember you from the 'AI' boards...and I think you were the one who got banned about 1,253 times from posting links to things. You were the true renegade member that we all appreciated. And you adding a new number onto your SN was uproarious. It's amazing they re-instated you that many times...which means forgiveness apparently exists in abundance over at the 'AI' boards.

Glad you're finally here now. The 'AI' board just turned into a wasteland for me during the summer.  Though I just wanted to consolidate my thoughts/posts into one place rather than multiple places. IDF was too crowded and chaotic...and KMF was just right. I think we built a great Kat community right here over the summer...along with the knowledge Kat was reading here regularly. Though maybe the MySpace thing has diminished business here a tad...including from Chad (KMF's owner) himself.

Yes, Kat's 'AI' folder will be recycled in January--so here and MySpace are the two best places now in my mind.

Where'd you get that medium quality sample of Kat's songs? Not that I really want you to say...because I can wait seven more days to get it at Walmart. I'm just glad to hear the songs on Idolwave tonight...with an additional surprise of hearing Kat's voice more up front on the CD next week.

This truly changes the gift-giving project of buying more of the 'OtR' single for the holidays--even though I hope people still buy that as a double gift with this one for friends and family...

I'm not sure who uploaded the rip to a sendspace account, the link made the rounds on the AI boards pretty quickly before they shut down for maintenance.

I think we all pretty much have decided not to propogate the spread of the rips any further, we made attempts to make sure only trustworthy Kat Phans would get it, BUT this is the internet and nothing is really safe.

I haven't heard the radio version but I ASSURE YOU you will be very pleased with the clarity and timbre of Kat's vocals on the CD.

OK, let me answer your questions ..lol

Bianca Ryan ... I had planned to run a poll to see whether or not we should adopt her, since she came from a show Simon produced and she will likely get very little radio play until she's older. But after I played some of her songs, her ratings were through the roof and we were flooded with e-mails fro  people begging us to keep her in the playlist permanantly. Therefore, she's the first singer we've permanantly adopted to Idol Waves who didn't appear on American Idol :-)  

The sound quality ... we could use a higher quality, but that would severley limit the amount of songs we could put in the playlist. At a bizrate of 64, we can get 200 songs in the playlist at one time. I think that's a good middle ground for quality. If we did bizrate 128 (CD quality), we might be able to get 90 songs. I could always upgrade our account, but that would be a fortune ... 

That brings me to the next point, money. Idol Waves doesn't make a penny. In fact, I personally have paid more than $500 the past year to run Idol Waves and Idolwaves.com. I was hoping we'd get listener support, but NO ONE offered. We even produced our own commercial, asking if listeners could help out just a bit. Like if everyone donated a dollar, we could cover like 6 years. We really did get $0 in support. I'm very disappointed with that, but that's another story. When you sign up for VIP, LIve365 gets the money, not us. Those crazy, annoying ads are for Live365; all Live365 stations have them. When you sign up for VIP, you don't hear those ads, plus the music quality gets much higher. We've produced a few our our own commercials, but we keep it to a minimum.

"I Lost You" is now eligible to chart!!! So, vote thumbs up for it when you hear it.

Both songs are above 9.0, so it looks like it will rocket up the Top 20.

Even though Katharine says that these two songs may not eventually be the official single released for radio play, it is SOOO exciting to finally hear Kat all over the radio. I also would like to hear opinions of listeners.
