According to the official boards Paula has already picked a Bobby Caldwell song for Elliott and rumor is Simon is picking Desperado by the Eagles for Taylor which leaves Kat stuck with Randy.

Saw Randy on Extra and the other entertainment news shows last night, and Randy said that it's going to be a boy/boy finish.

i don't know...depends on his mood what he'll pick i think..but she will have two more songs and being able to pick any song she wants for herself is a big plus..my mindset right now is that whatever he picks, she'll be able to do. Like i said before, Kat can do any genre, the key is for her to try to not be nervous and believe in herself as much as we do! But we vote so go McPhan Nation!

I think they- mean Simon, Randy and Paula...want a guy to win this competition it's so obvious!...but as a Mcphans! we have to let them know that Katharine has to be in the finally!...and Kat will have two more chances next tuesday so keep faith and just pray for her! she has the talent! i don't know what's going on with her!...she need to trust on herself!...like she did on "Since I fell for you"...

Randy picking for Kat is probably the lesser of the available evils...with his trained ear (?) he should be able to pick something in her range and a song that is 'not too big' for her....I think she'll be '...a-yite...dawg...hopefully she is THE BOMB'

Actually, I would prefer Simon to pick the song for Kat because if she did the song right, Simon would forever praise her and think that it is because "he" picked the right song for her. Also, some of America is very much influenced by Simon....according to him polls indicate 75% of the voters listen to him. So I think it would be beneficial for Kat if Simon picked the song.

I am afraid that Randy would sabotage Kat further and pick a simple, unsatifying song for her.

Unfortunately I think even Katharine listens to Simon. She should probably stop that and start listening to us. How's that for ego? But nobody knows what his motives are. At least we're transparent.

I understand where you're coming from...but I would still not want Simon to pick the song...he's not likely to slam Randy's choice...and I don't think he's over Chris going home...Randy probably has the most music credibility of the judges and has not been nearly as vociferous in his criticism of Kat as Simon.

Idoleyes....have you forgotten what he said about the songs being too big for Kat? Have you forgotten that if not for Randy, no one would even notice that Kat forgot her words? Have you forgotten that he was the first one to predict that it will be a man this year? Have you forgotten? I don't trust Randy with a 10 foot pole picking Kat's song. I am sorry.

At least when Simon trashed Kat and realized he was wrong, he apologized. Randy did only as an afterthought. Randy is a three liner man and repeats the same old line over and over again regardless of who's singing. He is always saying Kat is flat and pitchy. Grrrr!!! I think I have had it with these judges...all of them.

I speak for every Katharine person on this board, every time Randy says that her songs are flat and pitchy, and he doesn't admit on air.

I personally don't think it matters that Chris is gone because I think Taylor is and always was going to be the tougher one to beat out in this contest. I believe he has a much more passionate fanbase that Chris ever had.

Randy is a jive talking phony,in fact all the judges are quite transparent.The 3 Boobs want a guy to win and don't care for Kat.Roundy will probably pick Rick James'"Superfreak" for Kat to sing so that he can ruin her.Until this year I was a big Cowell fan and agreed with him probably 90% of the time.But the cutting and insulting way Simon has demeaned Kat has ticked me off.His big apology to Kat was meaningless because it came AFTER the votes were in.He was just trying to salvage his already sinking reputation.Fox got a lot of emails and calls about his remarks and Coward Cowell had to apologize.I won't say anything about Paula because she's clearly off the wall.Kat can't shut up the judges Tuesday,but....WE CAN!The fans will pick the next American Idol,not those 3 clowns!

The way Simon is always crabbing about "song choice" he'd damn well better pick a good one for her, or he'd look like an idiot. But then, that reminds me of the excerpt from the KMOQ (?) segment where the guy rips Simon for all his karaoke remarks. How, he asks, do you do a cover of a song that's so well known, by such a well known artist, that it's almost impossible to do it much different? He was talking about Jailhouse Rock, I think. As in, what would one do, make it a waltz, turn it into a love song, what do you do with a song like that? You just rock hell out of it as best you can. The whole show is based on doing a lot of covers of what other artists have already done, isn't it? That's kind of a definition of karaoke. Having said that, I think Katharine actually did do a credible job of putting Elvis flavor into two songs that she then made her own by doing them as a medley. It was innovative and still true to the original. Call me prejudiced (me??), but I think she really rocked the joint. I keep hearing people say she's probably not comfortable with that kind of performance, but I don't know about that. She really seems to be having fun.

Randy's opinion does not carry much weight on AI and his criticisms are usually low-key and not that damaging...and if he hadn't mentioned Kat's missed lyrics, Simon would have for sure...in a much less delicate manner...even his predictions are not that relevant...but I accept you don't trust him...neither do I really.


I agree that all the judges are very weak and usually offer nothing of significance to help the performers improve...I watched American Inventor a few days ago and I'd take that entire judges panel and put them in the judges seats on AI.

I don't really trust Randy to pick her song either. He's still pushing for a guy/guy finale. I think out of the 3 left Elliot is his winner. And I think Randy didn't really do a good job of picking Carrie Underwood's song last year....Shania Twain's "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" is not really a song that really shows off your vocals. It's more of a fun song. I will say one thing I've noticed...Paula's comments usually fall in line with Randy's when Randy is positive. You rarely see her think someone was bad when Randy just said he liked it. So maybe a Randy choice is more likely to get positive comments from him. And I do think that the judges comments has a major effect on some voters, who don't really have a favorite but vote on a weekly basis. And I also think it affects the critics out there who write up on the show and other viewers who talk about it.

I really hope Simon chooses Katharine's song. Randy has not always given Katharine enough credit. Think back on the night when she sang "Come Rain or Come Shine". Randy said that vocally, it wasn't his favorite performance (that it was alright), whereas Simon said that she became a star that night. When Katharine does her best, Simon just loves her.

I can't believe that Randy is predicting a boy/boy finale still. I think at this point, its a toss-up between Elliot and Katharine. If she gives her all come Tuesday, I really feel that no matter how well Elliot does, he'll be left behind. At least Simon knows better to say that anyone at this point can win.

The best have to win, and the best this year is a woman.I hope they pick right, I want Simon to choose Kat song as well, Paula loves Elliot and she would do anything to keep him in the competition, if that means Kat sabotage, she will do it.The same could be applied to Randy

What irritates me most about this season is that from the very beginning, they deemed it a "guy's year" to win. To be realistic, it would be good for the show if a guy were to win (having 4 out of 5 girls take the crown makes it seem like most men don't stand a chance), but their obvious push has compromised the quality of the show and the pursuit for the best. I really think that in any other year, Katharine would've been named the one to beat at the very beginning of the season--and that in all honesty, is putting my bias for her aside.

I'm very hopeful & hope-filled for Kat this coming round with the other 2. Regardless who picks her song -- if it's Simon with "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," then FANTASTIC!! -- I believe she will be prepared, psyched, and pumped to "bring down the house." Here's why I say this: meeting with her former high school, the students, teachers, etc., she mentioned how important it is to pick your songs well and to breathe! She knows. She knows now when she hasn't and when she has. Though there is tons of pressure, I believe she will be prepared to "knock 'em dead." I really love her humanness, her humility (admitting when she doesn't get it right) -- that's professionalism. She will do great. :-))

Now, as far as the prediction (by Randy?!? really??) that it'll be 2 guys for the finale, WE have MUCH to say about that -- right?! And, we will be voting in record numbers -- we McPhans will do our part in "bringing down the house" -- The other 2 contestants will have to be dealing with us -- WE'LL BE IN THE HOUSE with Kat all the way!
