Honestly, my fellow McPhans it's all in Kat's hands to win or lose this competition.  Frankly, she needs to get out of her own way.  Getting over her nerves, insecurities, doubts, and fears is her biggest challenge…in addition to blocking out what the AI bandits are telling her.  What a flagrant misuse and mistreatment of talent. I don’t know who is worse the three Muskeeters who can’t seem to muster one phrase of constructive criticism or the AI music staff who has been leading in her into vocal ruin.  No respectable arranger would have written the fluffy, over the top, versions of “Against All Odds” or “Can’t Help…”  Nor would any respectable vocal coach allow their pupil to sing them.  The phrasing was wrong, the modulations didn’t suit Kat’s ‘stage’ range, and they were simply much too much of everything.  Poor Kat, she shouldn’t have to beat the band during the latter stages of the AI competition.

Ah, Kat.  American forgave you your trespasses.  They forgave you in spite of yourself because they love to see a fallen hero rise above, transcend their incalculable woes, and conquer all.  It’s what Lifetime television for women and gay men is all about.  They are waiting for your rebound.  But Kat, keep in mind they only forgive once, well maybe twice, but never thrice.  What a story this will be if you win.  What fodder you have given them.  You just made yourself the underdog, the one who has something to prove. I am thinking of all the headlines and cat analogies they will write when you take the crown.  Katharine, is this a ploy?  Are you playing a little ‘cat and mouse’ routine? I am reminded of what they used to say about Judy Garland.  Apparently, the beloved star, and greatest entertainer in history of the known world IMO, was rumored to purposefully miss high notes in one phrase and then come around in the next and sing them as beautifully as ever all in a playful attempt to bring the audience in and make them hang on her every breath and adore her all the more.  We are sucker for that kind of thing, aren’t we?  How ballsy, if you did because it could be the way to win the crown in the AI game.  You’ve got everyone talking about you be it good or bad.  What a great actress you are.  I am loving it if it’s true and loving you all the more.  Are you just waiting to come out and give the greatest performances of the decade next Tuesday?  Please tell me you are.

But I have digressed.  I don’t really think that this is all contrived on her end.  I think she’s let the naysayers get to her.  And I hope she realizes she has already earned her place in the
