Dear Katharine McPhee: Hello there, Kat! How's life treating you back home in La-la land? First of all, I'm extremely proud of "you" as well as the commitment you've shown throughout this high stakes "American Idol" competition. On last night's A.I. tribute to the "King of Rock & Roll," I positively loved watching your vivacious, take-the-initiative performance of the combined hits "Hound Dog/All Shook Up." I strongly commend how you quickly recovered after momentarily losing your on-stage composure. Kudos, Kat! Call me sentimental, but I absolutely cherished the "light in your eyes" while singing the hopelessly romantic ballad "Can't Help Falling In Love" (my all-time favorite Elvis Presley song). Your unabashedly sweet disposition and lovable pearly white smile never becomes redundant. That's one solid reason why I voted for you nine times! Over the previous weekend, I purchased a fresh copy of American Idol the Magazine (volume two, issue three) at my local Barnes & Noble bookstore. I immensely enjoyed reading your detailed biography on page 58. In addition, I caught your exclusive TV Guide Magazine photo shoot on the entertainment program "Access Hollywood." For the record: You look strikingly beautiful in the feminine snow white Marilyn Monroe dress! I was waiting to hear "More Than A Woman" by the Bee Gees (from "Saturday Night Fever") play in the background. Just kidding! By the way: Congrats to your A.I. roommate/good friend Kellie Pickler and her heartwarming father/daughter reunion in Albemarle, North Carolina. That's excellent news! In all honesty, I really miss Kellie's perky sense of humor on "American Idol" and the national talk-show circuit. In fact, I noticed how Kellie trimmed her signature blond locks. I recently got a haircut too! I don't mean to sound like Dr. Phil (minus the Texan accent), but I want to give you one final pearl of wisdom before I let you go. In the end, the most important God-given social gift is the special friendships and relationships you've personally experienced over the course of your blessed life here on earth. Every single day, you're surrounded by a network of cordial people who genuinely love and support you. For example: Your family members, friends, neighbors, and a profoundly loyal "McPheever" fan base extending all-around the world. That's worth more than all the billions in Bill Gates' bank account! Love plus generosity equals true happiness, Kat. Not fame or material wealth. I sincerely hope and pray that "you," your magnificent mom, Peisha; and the entire McPhee family clan: Have a wonderful Mother's Day holiday celebration!
