Hey all you Katharine fans!

I'll start out by saying that I registered for this site after Katharine sang, "Someone to Watch Over Me."  I've never been obliged to show that kind of support for any other Idol contestant... ever.  Whether or not it happens in the future, I suppose time will tell.

American Idol is a phenomenon that took a while to hook me.  I had a passing curiosity with it during it's first season, but I didn't really pay attention.  Ironically, Kelly Clarkson ends up on my playlists pretty frequently now... I think she's a great singer.

The second season I all but ignored.  I guess I still had it in my head that it was a self-indulgent show that existed only to find out how to extract more money out of teenage girls.  I watched ONE episode of season three, but was instantly irritated with it when LaToya London was voted off the next night.

Last season was the first one that I watched all the way through, and I was a Bo and Carrie fan from the beginning.  I remember the moment that I became an active, voting member of the American Idol community;: it was when Carrie sang, "Alone" by Heart.  I nearly wore out my Tivo watching that performance over and over.  I think that was also the same night that Bo sang his acapella song... man what a show.

Since then, I have to admit, I'm pretty hooked.  I've liked Katharine from the beginning, and I've been voting, but I'd been voting in equal measure for Taylor.  Until "Someone to Watch Over Me."  Katharine BLEW ME AWAY with that performance, and I've been voting pretty heavily since then.

Katharine deserves this one.  Simon was right on the money when he compared her to Kelly Clarkson, and I can't wait to see what kind of album she comes out with.
