"I will miss you mommy." Kaycee said in her sad voice.
"Oh honey I will miss you so so so much, and I will miss Daddy and P.K., too." Katharine said in an even more sad tone of voice.
"Don't worry honey, we will all visit mommy in New York soon." Christopher said trying to stay strong for the kids. He was really even sadder than the girls about Kat leaving L.A. to go make her Broadway debut. He knew it would be good for her to get back to working and to see Kellie Pickler her old friend, but he knew it would be hard for him, the kids, and Katharine's family. He hoped this gig wouldn't go longer than the expected 3 months, but if it did he looked forward to being able to go to New York and see his wife every day again while on the "vet exchange" project his boss had arranged just in case.
"Kaycee please go in to see grandma while me and daddy say goodbye." Katharine knew these would be the last words she spoke to her daughter face to face for a good month at least, and so she gave her beautiful daughter that looked just like her when she was that age, a huge, long hug and kisses all over her. Luckily Kat chose to go au-natural on the makeup that day because if not Kaycee would have been the color of her lipstick. Kaycee returned the hugs and kisses with her own hugs and bunches of little toddler kisses, she gave her father some love too so he wouldn't get mad, after all he would be in charge for the next three months. She ran along inside where Peisha and Dan greeted her at the door with hugs and they waved goodbye to Katharine.
Katharine had tears in her eyes as she looked back at Christopher, who was also tearing up at the thought of not being with or seeing his beautiful wife for at least a month, and at the thought of how sad his girls will be without their mom. He didn't even begin to think about Katharine's family and how much they would miss her. Christopher began to speak but Katharine cut him off with a kiss.
"I love you." Katharine said in a very calm voice after she had broken away from the passionate kiss.
Chris just stood there and would not let her go until finally she said, "Honey I am going to miss my flight if I don't leave soon."
"I don't want you to leave us, but I want you to go." Chris told Kat.
"I have to go. I don't want to, but I have to go. I need to get back to performing, and my fans need to see me again."
"I want you to do all that too and I want your fans to see you, but I don't want you away from me or the family so long.
"Chris, don't do this, not now when I am about to leave, it will only make me more sad if I know you didn't want me there. You should have said this a long time ago when it was first brought up."
"You're right. I shouldn't be doing this now, I should be packing up my things and the kids' things and leaving with you to New York now."
"But what about your work, and all the animals that need help?"
"Forget my job, still care about the animals, but for now forget about them too, right now all I need is my two beautiful daughters and you, my lovely wife who I would die without."
"What are you saying? Are you coming to New York?"
"You bet I am going to New York and so are the girls. We are all going to New York as a family. I will find a job there somewhere, it doesn't matter now, all that matters now is being together, all of us.
Nicely done. See...they don't have to be super long. You can leave the long-babbly stuff to Groucho, myself and I'm guessing Greg.
