RCA Records announced Monday that Daughtry had signed a deal with 19 Recordings Unlimited, managed by Idol's creator Simon Fuller. Daughtry's album is expected to be released later this year. Online sports betting giant BetUS.com promptly released odds on the future sales of Daughtry's Album.
Chris Daughtry is currently touring with the other American Idol finalists on the Idols Live tour. Daughtry has already scored a hit single on Billboard's Hot 100 with his version of Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead Or Alive."
Despite Daughtry previous success BetUS.com music analysts don't believe his new album will outsell Taylor Hicks'. Yes, outsell, is currently offered at +400. No at -700.
However analysts believe Daughtry album has better chances in outselling Katherine McPhee's (Yes -120, No -110).
BetUs.com also posted odds on the sex of American Idol 6 winner. Males are favorite, with current odds being -130, whereas females are currently offered at +100. Transexuals are the underdog at +1600.
All things being equal, Taylor should, in theory, outsell everybody. Between Taylor and Chris, I have listened to both of their preIdol music and I am actually surprised that Taylor has a more popish sound than I expected. I think of the two, Taylor has the best shot at scoring that one big hit straight out of the gates.
As far as Katharine is concerned, I think she needs that one great song. Something bouncy, something fun. Kat has a good natural bounce to her (figuratively, not literally . . . . . . . . . well ). If she has a hit song like that, look out, because I think she will blow up.
