This was posted by Jolene60 on the AI boards
I have been working on a book since May about the Soul Patrol fanbase and what our experiences have been since coming on the boards, our voting efforts, our projects, our interaction with each other, the sharing, etc. But ever since the play-by-plays of the concert started, it is evident of that "family feeling" with everyone. So I would like to open up the book input to everyone and am posting this same message to all fans. If you would like to be part of the book, send me your input to monitor one at hot mail dot com and put the first two words together when you do. Tell me what you would like to share with everyone about your experience with your AI board family. Be sure and tell who your Idol is. If I could have your input by August 31st, that would be GREAT! Make sure I can reach you by return email and if you have pictures to share of gatherings, projects, etc. the publishing company I am working with might agree to pictures..so think about that as well. I don't know how much input I will get, but I WILL report back to you and let you know on this board. Thank you so much for letting me make this offer to you and I hope to hear from you!

I will NEVER forget that moment in time.
I was watching with my daughter, her husband and my 2 grandchildren. Just before, when Ryan was about to go into the announcement, my daughter moaned...I gotta bad feeling about this.....
My heart started to sink....It was the first time I got really, really nervous. Up until then I was confident that Taylor would or should win.
Then the announcement......the winner is..................Taylor Hicks.
I jumped up off the couch, laughing and crying all at the same time. Everyone in the room started cheering and yelling..... (We are ALL Taylor Fans!!)
My 9-year old grandson gave me the biggest hugs....My 10-year old granddaughter ran over to me and hugged me. I grabbed my daughter and hugged her. We were all standing and jumping up and down, up and down and yelling at the top of our lungs....crazy laughing...all of us.
I remember thinking....He did it!!! He won!!!!! America accepted him..... I was just so darn ecstatic!!!
Even when recounting this .... I get that same tight & fluttery feeling in the pit of my stomach.....heart racing, skin flushed..... It's almost like the tension just before (you know)... I can't help it.....
OMG gotta go take a break...and get my breathing back to normal...

From labrador
Well, I was trying to go to sleep tonight, but couldn't. Got back up and signed on the computer to see if our troll ever died and find this again. I've loved reading everyone's stories and it's so fitting tonight....the night before Taylor headlines the tour as the WINNER of American Idol 2006.
I remember just floating through that Wednesday at work, couldn't concentrate on anything but getting home and getting ready to see if all my (and our) work really did pay off. In the end, did we really do enough to put him over Katherine was what I was thinking. I was so worried about the text votes from her teeny-bopper fans. I remember emailing my brother before I left work to let him know I would be out of commission that night...I remember saying to him..."I cannot be bothered or interrupted for anything short of Elvis being spotted in Tupelo"! All my other friends KNEW not to call me to chit chat that night.... Got home....walked my dog...checked the boards and then waited. I remember being so irritated at all the stuff we had to get through that night. I was having mild heart attacks while having to watch the cowboy's being reunited.... I thought we were NEVER going to get to the end.
When Ryan said Taylor's name, I just felt such a sense of pride, joy and a feeling that all really was right with the world. When he bent down for those few seconds, I really lost it. My dog was going nuts because I was...I kept having to push her away. I remember standing up, sitting down, then standing up again. I really didn't know what to do with myself over the pure joy I was feeling. And then when he started his song....and that smile on his face....and THEN when he said the words, "Come on America, I'm living the American Dream"....I really lost it then. I cried...no, I SOBBED my heart out over that. That really said it best...all we had been through, all HE had been through and now, sweet irony and sweet victory.
I still cry every time I watch those final 5 minutes and see that look on his face and hear those words. He is one amazing guy and I'm so proud we gave him his dream.

I should write something from the point of view of Geriatrics With McPheever (as I am not a teeny bopper, and really didn't bop much even as a teeny). I don't mean to sound nasty or anything, but really, Katharine does have a wider fan base than that.
How many of y'all gonna do this? Katharine needs some kind of representation there.

You know Yuv, instead of helping the SP with their book, I think we should consider writing our own. We have our own tale to tell, and it is marvelous, miraculus, inspiring, gut wrenching and bittersweet. Plus we have many talented writers and contributers here. I know writing a book could be a daunting project, but it would be a rewarding one also. I even have a title: "Meow Baby: Kat Tales from Kat fans"!
