OK, we're all in shock over the judges comments to Kat last night, and some of us think that something's a bit rotten in AI land. Kat fans all over the world are up in arms, the media reviews generally agree with us, and even fans of other contestants are scratching their heads. So here's where we can consolidate our various theories. Here's mine:

Simply put, the AI producers want Kat to win (or at least be in the final 2), and have from the start. She is beautiful, extremely talented, and more importantly, infinately marketable. She is almost guarenteed to be a superstar of *at least* Kelly Clarkson stature. But they have a big problem: public perception. They need to make the competition appear close for ratings, and they need to get their choices to the top- all while appearing to be unbiased.  Over the years there has been more and more talk of AI being "fixed" and playing favorites. Then last year, Simon put his foot in AI's mouth by predicting Carrie to win early in the competition. So I believe AI started a campaign of "misdirection" early on to divert attention from their real goals. Some "fishy" items which could be misdirection:
-They made it well known that this year "a guy will win".
-Simon gives his early final 3 predictions excluding Kat.
-Celebrity guest interviews exclude positive comments about Kat.
-Simon "forgets" Kat's name while interviewed *during the final 12*.
-Simon says Kat "too perfect" to win.
Then, maybe 2 weeks ago, the producers decided Kat needed a push towards the finals. So we saw:
-Extended clips featuring Kat with the celebrity guests.
-Glowing praises by the celebrity guests.
-Higher praise by the judges.
-Kat in the coveted closing spot last week.
But then the great, arrogant Simon screwed it up again last week by going way over the top. His careless comments had many people calling "foul" again, negating alot of the previous careful misdirection. So the producers hoped that by executing a carefully orchestrated slam of Kat this week (and I believe Ryan's "no volume vote" part of it), that they would accomplish the following:
-immediately take the "favoritism" heat off AI.
-maintain the appearance of a tight competition.
-only marginally hurt Kat this week BUT
-bolster Kat's support longterm though backlash.

There you have it.
Crazy? Maybe. Or Maybe not so crazy.

Well, something's going on. After two weeks of the most incredible support imaginable--lighting, costumes, everything perfection, judges crowing, Katharine glowing--all of a sudden we now have a week where everything goes wrong. Upon a third viewing, I wondered who picked the dress, who chose the camera angles that occasionally made it look a size too small, how on EARTH did that little mishap happen (the Detroit Free Press coyly referred to it as an 'I see London, I see France etc.' malfunction), and then Simon's attack, after which they do a big close-up of what looks like Katharine wiping tears or close to it-- I don't quite know what smells, but something does. And all Katharine did was deliver a ripping performance that was her own, she doesn't have to be Whitney Houston, we've already got one of them and she's amazing, but so is Katharine, in her own, different way. Too many coincidences. She wuz had. The judges were off in weirdsville and the audience was right.

Amen to that!

Too many praises for Kat from the judges over tha past weeks have belittled the other contestants. FOX has no doubt dictated to the judges to level the playing field. Therefore the comments from the judges last night reflected not Kat's performance, but FOX's demand that the judges---somewhat of a sham!

i just joined up...mainly because i do like kat....and i ve been thinking from the begining about all the signs of a fix....
i m not a kid...i enjoy the show and have been around the block alot...and this show smells funny too me..
i can give you a whole list of reasons but i wont go on and on.....i ll make 1 point.
last nite was classic love songs....how did chris get to pick a brian adams song??? and how was he privliaged enough to have guitars next to him on stage?? and great sound and lighting??
your gonna tell me if that was offered to all the others they wouldnt have taken it? and picked a more fermilar song for them??
ok one more,,,,i cant believe kat would have picked that song...ANYONE who watchs idol knows no one should attempt a whitney houston song....and whoever gave her ill advised to sex-it-up....
i hope she can overcome this.
