Taylor Hicks Prepares Memoir, Billboard | Taylor Hicks

All he needs is a movie and Taylor Hicks could be the new King of All Media.

He's conquered TV – winning American Idol – and music – he had a hit with his single "Do I Make You Proud" – and now Hicks, 29, has inked a deal to write a book.

The New York Post reports that Random House's Crown imprint paid Hicks an estimated $750,000 advance for the memoir, which, according to Hicks's agent, Alan Nevins, will be ghost written by David Wild, whose work has appeared in Rolling Stone.

The book, Heart Full of Soul, should hit shelves in spring 2007, the Post reports. In it, Hicks, once a struggling singer in Alabama clubs, will chronicle the obstacles he overcame on his road to success.

Rounding out Hicks's multimedia presence, the singer – already a pitchman in Ford TV commercials – will appear alongside fellow Idols from Alabama Ruben Studdard (another winner) and Bo Bice (a finalist) on a new billboard from the state's Bureau of Tourism and Travel.

The billboards will feature photos of the three and the message, "Where America finds its voice. Alabama," the Associated Press reports.

Alabama tourism director Lee Sentell said that six billboards "will go up shortly before the American Idol auditions begin in Birmingham on Aug. 21" and be displayed for four months.

The FOX talent show will hold its first-ever auditions in Birmingham, with 10,000 to 15,000 hopefuls expected to try out.
