What if Randy, Paula, Simon judged the guest artists… I have to say, after watching the guest performers - Stevie, Barry, Kenny, Rod – (Shakira was O.K.) the performances have been less than stellar…I wonder how they would have stood up to the review by the illustrious AI panel.... I can just imagine their review of Rod Stewart last week… Randy - ’Yo, Yo,Yo man…O.K…O.K…alright dawg…listen…check it out Rod….alright…seriously dude…how you feelin’ dawg…O.K. O.K….you got the crooner thing hapenin’ …that’s cool…got your ‘peops’ in da house… sorta bluesy-mellow thing happenin’… but I dunno man….not sure ‘bout that song selection….it really didn’t do it for me….started kinda weak…pitchy in places…you never really got it goin’ dude….really struggled on the high range….but…hey… ‘props’ to the little dance moves, man….and that jacket is the BOMB…but I don’t know….it was just a-yite for me…. Paula – …Rod…… you know I love you…I’m one of your biggest fans…you look great… the camera loves you…you’re what this competition is all about…I think the fans love you….you’re like a chicken salad sandwich…I love chicken salad sandwiches…and I love you…I love your energy…you took that song and made it your own… you did great.. Simon – I don’t know what to say…I’m speechless… I mean honestly…I don’t get it…you look ridiculous…...no…no…hang on….wait a minute…honestly…you’re like a old man someone found sleeping on a park bench somewhere who agreed to embarrass himself in front of 30 million people for a free bottle of Aqua Velva…and it sounded like you drank it before you sang….no…I don’t get it…you can’t lose what you never had, so I won’t comment on your voice… and I mean….a 60 year old man singing’ about love….it just seems kind of creepy to me…you make Bucky sound like Pavarotti…awful…just awful…I give up….after that performance we should rename the show American I-doze…you put me to sleep… It seems Barry did well in terms of guiding the contestants to prepare for the show, and Stevie and Rod to a lesser extent...Kenny was pretty light….but, while they are all accomplished performers in their own right…I just think the level of performances has been well below standard….I expect that will take a dramatic reversal of form when the venerable Andrea Bochelli performs next week…

Hahaha. I always love your posts. =) I think you hit that nail on the head with this one. =p Those do sound exactly like things the judges would say. I agree to an extent, most of the guests they've had on the show are some of the most famous performers EVER. I would have liked to been slightly more impressed. I guess I'm a little biased because I'm actually been a pretty big fan of everyone they've had on the show. Rod Stewart being the favorite of that category, of course. =) Maybe we would've like them more had they sang they're popular songs. Stevie, Barry, Kenny and Rod all did a songs from their new albums, but maybe had Stevie have performed My Cherie Amour, or if had Barry sang Mandy, Kenny had done Lady, or Rod had tried Maggie May we would have been more entertained. I know I would have. =)

I know I would have. =) Hey Jaded...thanks...just having fun... I've never been a big Barry fan, but he impreseed me with the way he worked with the contestants...he really seemed interested and intent on helping them get the most out of their performances...no doubt he's a polished performer and I know he's written a lot of great somgs too. Stevie is great, but I didn't like his performance that much...Kenny was bad...Rod was pretty bad too...and I do like him...and his music... But you're right...if they had done some of their popular stuff they might have struck a better chord with me anyway...but I guess they come on the show to promote their material...

Yeah, that's true - they were just promoting their new stuff. I guess I'll admit that I did download I Can't Unlove You after Kenny sang it on the show. =) Haha.

I actually thought Barry Manilow was quite good on his Wednesday performance but the rest have been subpar. I was especially disappointed in Stevie Wonder and Rod Stewart I felt has been the absolute worst.

Brilliant post Idoleyes! I could actually hear the voices as I was reading it. How can you say Shakira was only ok though!! She was HOT. The other artist perfomances have been a little disappointing I agree. Lets hope Katharine is still performing in 40 years time and sounding as good as ever.
