You should be pumped from Peisha's message, and ecstatic because tomorrow (Tuesday) you know what you are getting...a message from Katharine. 

Show her that you support her by getting 1 friend to sign up and participate with the rest of the family here at KMF.   She needs all the love she can get. 

Let's get to 1000 by voting time tomorrow and then come back here to talk about how great she did. 

Remember, NO POSTING DURING VOTING HOURS.

Chad, I have a suggestion if we want to hit 1000 by tomorrow:

DO NOT POST KAT'S MESSAGE ON IDOL FORUMS, BUT INSTEAD ASK THEM TO COME HERE TO READ IF THEY'RE INTERESTED.

MAKE THE "MESSAGE FROM KAT AND HER FAMILY" FOLDER A MEMBER ONLY SECTION.

In this case, anyone who wants to read her message will have to sign up as a member.

Sure, withholding more content will get more people to sign up- but to what end? Forcing people to sign up doesn't create more participation. How many of the 900+ current  members regularly contribute? On the other hand, the more content we leave available to flegling fans, the better chance we have of them becoming comitted fans and power voting. So my opinion would be to restrict as little content as possable.

Bill is right here guys. The overall goal is to get people to fall in love with Katharine. It is NOT to get as many as possible to sign up for this site.

That said, I do create a direct link to KMF on idolforums.com when posting a message. For American Idol's forum, you can't post a link. That is why I just say "credit: KatharineFans.com". I have read posts here and there in the AI forum and a lot of people refer to this site for things they have found. In the end, KMF will be Katharine's Fans' home because AI will be over for this season in 6 weeks.

If you guys have ideas that help Katharine and can also improve the site, I will take them into consideration. Please let me know of any ideas so I can make the changes that will help out Katharine as well as the site.

Great to see opinion guys! Our goal is to make ppl fall in love with Kat and Join in to Support her.... and i can see that it is 'growing' the more registered members we have, the more support Katharine will get.... that is the most important thing right now... so all you visitors out there...come in and show your love and support for our KAT!

I guess the question to ask is this:

What purpose is it for us to try to increase our membership?
Possible answers: 1. because we want to spread the word to vote for Katharine so we can see her through to the end.
2. So we can be recognized as one legitimate and faithful fansite that brings in the most direct link to Kat and her family.

What other purpose is there? Once we've identified them, then we can have a clear plan on how to proceed. I think making some site available only to members is a great idea because then those that are true Kat fans are going to want to be involved and will register. It will also divert some that may be trolls and bashers. Let's face it, there are a few of them out there. Just my humble opinion...

Ok, this is how I look at it.

1. In order to attract more fans to join KMF, we have to be in some ways unique and better than other Kat sites. In other words, yes, I'm a Kat fan but what would I benefit by joining KMF that I couldn't get from other sites? Why do you think our membership skyrocketed last couple of weeks? That's because there were more and more new fans who caught McPheever and tried to get informations such as photos and interview clips that could not be obtained from the AI boards. So they were directed here. If they can get everything they want from other sources, why do they need to come here? Kat and her family's messages are very precious because currently noone is able to get that information directly except KMF.

2. Those who lurk in different forums out of curiosity are not dedicated fans, hence they are not committed to vote for her nor willing to join any membership. The dedicated fans who are willing to spend time and effort digging out her informations have no problem taking a minute to apply for membership, and they are those who will dedicatedly vote for her every week. We need these people. I'd rather use our resources to benefit the dedicated fans than to offer it publicly to those who don't care or appreciate.

3. We already had the "Katharine's Media" section restricted. So making another (the "Message") secton restricted is not really different from what we are doing now. Are we in contradiction if we say we want to open up ourselves to the public but at the same time, we have the media folder restricted? What is the purpose of restricting the media folder?

I'm not trying to insist on my point. I respect every decisions made in this site. I'm just looking at a different angle and try to bring them up for discussion purpose only.

Michael, I know where are you coming from. The difference between the media section and the messages section is a decision made for the future of KMF. Bandwidth is what costs so much money to run the site and the bandwidth will be through the roof if I ever serve all the media that is not American Idol owned.

I think if the lurjers are true dedicated Katharine fans, they are going to join anyways. The "Messages" forum is to get the word out that Katharine is in touch with her fans and respects and is thankful for their sacrifice every week. No other contestant does this for their fans, and I believe people will eventually come around when she gets into the final few.

Then we just need to hang on for the ride.

I don't think the messages forum should be restricted. Chad is right - we want to promote Katharine McPhee, not insist that dedicated fans deserve more and say "no" to the less dedicated.

Not all dedicated fans have to sign up to this one site - there are other sites out there, after all. I know of one very dedicated fan who doesn't use this site because the layout and all the glitches bother him. I think the glitches in the site do drive some people away - it's driven at least one person away.

^He must have a really slow connection, because I don't get errors but every once in a while and I can gurantee you I am on this site more than everyone. Like I have said a million times before, this site is a beta, which means it hadn't been tested. The improvements will come. Please post your problems in the website forum, not this forum. Thanks.
