We know Kat 's CD is not being promoted, played on the airwaves. & sold at the concert.   I'm solicit suggestion on how we can promote Kat's CD to concert attendees.  There are alot of AI watcher going to the concert  who do not come on the boards and not aware that Kat has a CD. Those of the fans we need to reach.  Ideas anyone?

Well. I think KMF is doing a great job to promote her single, and I'm stumped on what WE all could actually do to make aware of it to people in the concert. Hopefully they'll sell singles in the concerts...do they do that??

The stuff I've been doing are minor..but at least it's helping a bit. Like posting reviews of her single on AMazon...BN...cd universe.....then telling friends, and family. Requesting it by email and phone on local stations. And just spreading her name.

**Hopefully her single sales will boost once she sets forth on the tour again. -_^

I heard Taylor and Kat's singles are not sold at the concert. My experience at the concert last year Las Vegas and San Jose I saw Constantine's fans from Betty Group passing out flyers and CDs to anyone stopping by to chat with them. In San Jose I again saw them across the street handing out flyers. I know some establishments frown on having ppl passing out flyers on their premises but doing in across the street would be okay.

That sounds like a great idea actually. Handing out a little flyer for her single for people to pick up while heading in would encourage them to purchase it if they enjoyed Kat's performance.

Isn't there anyone from the record industry that can help answer this? I mean how do these other songs get played over and over again and again? Is it because people bought it first, so the stations play it? Or is it the stations play it, then people buy it?

^^ I'm pretty sure that the management has to PAY the head honcho of the radio station circuit...like ClearCHannel for them to play it. The only radio stations that I heard that played SOTR were independent ones not affiliated with the all powerful Clearchannel unit.

The way I understand it when a certain song is being pushed by a label the song is sent to the Add List, & a digital recording sent to the station to use. Clear Communication ownes a large number of the mainstream stations and some behind the scene takes place that determines what is being played on the radio these days. Some of labels will send digital recording to certain regional stations to check how the song is received. If the songs gets a good responses than it will be sent to more stations. Because My Destiny was not sent out to the Add List by her label, fans are getting responses such as they have not received the digital recording or have not gotten clearance to play it  from corporate. Some independent are not tied to the large corporation and will play the song if they have it available but their numbers are few. I once saw an article explaining this..I'll see if I can find it again. That is the reason we have not heard Kat 's songs not played on the mainstream radio.  The singles that are currently out for Kat and Taylor is consider souvenir CDs by AI and not promoted.

luv4llntkm has got it exactly right. Clearchannel controls like 65% of stations overall, and all the major stations in some areas. And if we can't get Kat's songs cleared by Clearchannel corporate, they wouldn't get played. I'm not sure how this can be done without RCAs backing.

BTW, to reiterate why RCA doesn't promote these singles, it's just a matter of economics. The singles are produced solely to placate the fans until a real album is released. There's no real money in it for RCA or 19 Recordings. Not enough to spend money and 'call in favors' in a national promotion campaign. That will come with the albums, which have the potential for multi-platinum sales and multiple hit singles.

I'm not going to the concerts, but something that might work would be to develop an iron-on transfer that you could print from your home printer and iron on to the back of your t-shirts.

Something like: "Ask me about Katharine's new CD".

In my countr, the local radio stations do play Taylor song and even in their playlist…As for Kat, I’m pretty sure that her song is going to be in their playlist..In fact this morning(local time), as I was listening to the local english radio station, in their segment choose your music, there’s one caller (obviously Kat fans), asking the DJ to play Kat song and maybe we will hear her song next week before her single is out in our local Tower Records…..I can’t wait…

Use a word processer, or notepad, and type it out using a font size of 280 or 300, and print it out on a t-shirt transfer, available at most office supply stores.

KOST in LA is owned by Clear Channel. They first played DIMYP right after the finale. And now they are playing it everyday. So does it mean RCA pays for the promotion of Taylor's CD but not Kat's? Maybe they only have budget for the winner?

Another strange example is KT Tunstall's BHCT. It was released in Feb. but I have never heard it on the radio until after Kat's performance. It's so funny the first time when they played on the radio, the DJ didn't even know the correct name and kept saying Black House and Cherry Tree. Now I hear at least 2 to 3 times per day on that station. So does it mean that Tunstall's record company did not promote her CD when released and waited until after Kat sang on AI and then they started promoting it?

I believe the winner does have a small promotional budget.

Hmm...If I remember correctly, when Kat first sang BHACT it wasn't being promoted in the US, it was only on the European charts. KT's label astutely took the free publicity as an opportunity to promote her album in the US.
