I did a shameful thing tonight...

... and went on the AI forum to bash *a contestant*.

I know that it is rude and I know that it makes me no better than a dog to insult someone so. :hangs head:

I think that I was just so frustrated with the AI system and that the people (or person) who deserve to be number one aren't even in the top three according to dialidol (as inaccurate as it is.)

I propose a thread for bashing and not for sheer rudeness but to help vent and release tension. People who hold it all inside, like me, may go on the public AI forum and really insult someone...

But, no, seriously. What really grinds your gears? Simon's arrogance, for example? And people say Kat is arrogant!

It is frustrating to me also that just because a certain contestant's hometown holds block parties every week and gets extra help with text voting from some local wireless company (or so I've read) AND gets the votefortheworst.com votes -- that they can be pushed way ahead of someone who completely deserves the #1 spot in this competition. It has also been said that fans of another contestant have been doing some really enormous and extreme things in terms of showing their support, which only reinforces the reason why this person is at the top of the voting results every week. I have been sad many times by thinking that America could let talent as awesome as Katharine's get displaced and the winning title given to someone else who doesn't even come close to what she can do.

Then what can be done? I sat by the phone, hitting redial and getting in 160 votes, but if that is not enough, especially with certain fans and their home towns. I'm seriously having anxioty attacks over here... Not severe, don't worry...

Sherman Oaks isn't the type of town to come together and power vote. It is part of the San Fernando Valley, which, in turn is in LA County.

The only large-scale parties that come from there are when the Lakers/Trojans win the championships. And that's only recent news. Before you ask, I am not a fan of either team. I don't care for basketball and I am a hardcore Bruin/Notre Dame fan :ducks: ;)

Morgan, you know better than to ask for a thread for bashing . This site should and will reflect Katharine as best as possible. The voting system will never be just so we have to live with it. Dialidol was wrong last week, and it shows Katharine as possible 1 through 3 even if it is right this week. I have said this before - I don't care if DialIdol has her low...because many people check that thing and if they see her low, they want to vote harder.

IF you do go and bash on other forums, please don't tell them you like Kat. We need those fans for future votes after their idol is axed. And get a punching bag. Those are great tension relievers.

You're right, Chad. And, no, I did not spread word that I was a Kat fan... One thing I did right ;)

While I am still a bit anxious and annoyed with the system, I voted as well as I could and that is the best that I can do, aside from spreading the word.

And she has come so far, she can do anything now, no matter what happens! And she has fans of at least 1000. Why am I anxious at all?

And there is NO WAY she is in trouble! She brought tears to my eyes. It was like "God Bless The Child" all over again!

I apologize for going a little wankadoodle in the above post.

em_sears02... I trully understand your frustation... but at least you admit that it is not a good thing to do...

And I'll tell you this.... forget the system and etc! just as long as you know you did your best on getting votes in and spreading McPheever to make sure Kat sails through every week.. THATS ALL THAT MATTERS... Trust me.

I wouldnt waste my time at non positive forums... I rather have that time used to spread support for Kat ;)

em_sears02, I think we all share your frustration about AI. That being said, it is just plain wrong bashing the contestants. None of them deserves being insulted. Even though I'm loyal to Kat only, I respect every one of them. If they can get to sing up there, they are already better than 99.9% of the citizens in terms of singing talent. You know, I really hate bashers and trolls, especially if they are bashing Kat. Most of the time, I ignore them unless they are getting too ridiculous. I also agreed with Chad, if you have to go bash someone, please, please do not admit you are a Kat fan. Our behavior represents Katharine and we don't want her name to be damaged.

If you can't control your emotion, please refrain from going on the Idol forums. Or take my advice:

1. Stay only at Katharine's folder and stay away from the General Discussions and Season 5 folders. Those are where most of the fightings and bashings occured.

2. Do not go to other contestants' folder. Leave them alone and let them enjoy their idol. Everyone has different taste and not everyone likes the same person. If you like Kat, stay at her folder and don't be jealous at people liking another contestant. Just do your best for Kat and that's all you can and need to do.

I really hope this was your last time bashing other people. I'm hurt to see my fellow Kat members doing this. To me, this is unacceptable and unexcuseable.

There is bashing, and then there is BASHING.  Since it is a singing contest, to give an opinion on someone's singing abilities shouldn't be too out of line.  Like, if I were to say that I thought Kellie stunk last night, or that Kathrine is a better singer, I don't think that is real bashing.  But when people who don't personally know the contestants start saying personal things like, this contestant is conceited, this contestant is trailer trash (e.g., Nikki from season one - that is what the bashers often said about her and worse), this contestant ...  (you get the idea), that is when it gets into unnecessary and hurtful bashing.  Every one of these contestants have a lot of guts to get up in front of millions every week and not only sing, but then to receive the slings and arrows from the judges.  Then, one by one, they have to get told in front of millions that they got voted out and take it with dignity even though they have to be dying inside.  I will say, however, that as fans of a particular contestant, it does sometimes become easy to get carried away in the emotion of it all.

 

One thing I wanted to share.  I did go on the AI forum to read a bit (I have not posted there), and there was some girl that was going on about how stuck up / conceited Katharine is.  Kat fans demanded that she tell then what she was basing that on.  She referred to Katharine's "thank you.  I know I do" comments.  Then the Kat fans told this person what was really said and the girl then posted a blushing emoticon and apologized for her comments about Katharine.
