This was posted at the AI official boards Tuesday morning.  OK, I was in a hurry before but here's what I know for fact.
She's staying at the local Albany, NY Crown Plaza hotel that's in the same building I work in. She was in the lobby talking to someone (didn't see who) and I heard her say that she was supposed to stay in her room and rest but she just had to get out of there for a few minutes. She went to Starbucks and then back to the hotel. I saw her in the hotel's pool area a few minutes later.
Her voice is still very rough and I don't think she'll be singing tonight but she will make an appearance for her fans.

I'm going back down to the hotel now to see if I can find out anything else.

Great news for the McPhans! Even if she's not able to sing yet just being able to see her in person is SO much better than no Kat at all. We'll be waiting for a rundown on all the events of her first appearance on tour.

Great news. This all almost works in Kats favour. She has been missed this last week. All the rumours. All the speculation. All the "will she, won't she". It all gives her an air of mistique. It adds to her star factor. She seems even more like entertainment royalty. Only a few people attain this. It also becomes a mark of respect - people just KNOW that they are dealing with someone very special and they treat them better than anyone else and open up more doors for them. (Metaphorically speaking) This isn't the runner up from a cheesy TV talent show. This is The Glorious Katharine McPhee: Superstar!

(Perhaps this is what the bashers are reacting to and going to extremes the other way?)

Let me get this straight... she's in your building, you saw her in person, and you're on the computer talking to us?!?!   Don't get me wrong, we are truly grateful.  However, I must say, I don't think I'd be a very productive worker as most of my day would be spent trying to "accidently" bump into her.

I was going to mention the same thing, usually only Britney or J-Lo gets this kind of attention at the hotel!

great news but I really hope it isn't too soon for her to show up, healthwise. the poster stated that her speaking voice was still rought so I'm hoping she'll take her time before actually returning to the stage... but sooo good to hear something positive!

Maybe it's a decoy! She could be working on mail on the tour, but don't know why she'd show up more than a week early.

I think it would be hard to be on tour and still rest her voice.

I agree with you. I don't think this story is true. I have seen the postings of the OP on this subject before and am not completely confident in their accuracy.
