Read if you dare... Okay, so it's not a very good poem, but here's the story - today, I was sitting on the bus to go home and realized I didn't have my headphones with me and so couldn't listen to any music. So I look through all the books and journals in my backpack and decide I'll be creative for once. I'm going to write a poem. No clue what to write about, haven't been inspired in many months. Then I start pondering the meaning of the word "star" and quickly realize for the first time why celebrities are called stars: they are distant, untouchable, and bright. I'll call this poem (for now) "Star." Star of stars Suspended in the sky Your brightness flickers In another's eyes But when the morn comes I see you and see you still higher and wait For the night to come And show you a while Untouchable For the day Or the clouds come To give me a break Alone I must think The curtain parts From a thousand distant lights From a million million miles Yet you are My star of stars Critique? I might add some more...

I like how the word "star" is like a double entendre. It has a concrete meaning and a more metaphysical meaning. =) I especially like the lines "Your brightness flickers in another's eyes" because really all that makes a star is their fans and genuine admiration and appreciation from other people. =)
