i hope this isnt the barrometer of how well she is selling
i mean shes #43 and thats the lowest presale of any runnerup ever
we have to do something to promote her single and increase her sales

im just worried cause i want her single to be #1 when it debuts
and if she sells poorly her album will not get promoted that much

I wouldn't worry too much yet. The presales on Amazon were initally higher in the 20s, and her apperances have subsided, so I'm not surprised at the drop. You also have to remember that Amazon, whiile huge, isn't the only game in town. I also think there's a contingent of people who don't like to buy 2-song CDs, so they do downloads instead.
Let's wait and see when the single actually comes out and see how it fares then. If radio gets behind it, I think Kat could still do quite well.

Actually I think that she is doing very well considering that she has yet to sing her original song ONCE outside AI, so she's is selling a song that been around since 1930 and covered countless times since.
When Clive and company are done with her she will be a MTV star and a VHI diva. She has a voice that can appeal to tennyboppers and soccer moms alike.
These are just the initial first weeks, I believe her carrer will span years, possibly decades. If someone with her looks, vocal and acting talents can't make it, then the whole thing is just a crapshoot anyway.
BTW, Radiohead I love your Avatar, who knew America had a princess?

Yeah, it doesn’t look very promising, does it. BUT: Even I didn’t like My Destiny and OTRB is totally worn-out song from the Devonian period. It was a great performance but the song has no selling capacity. AND: imo, Kat is more in movies, theatre and broadway than pop-charts. She not gonna be just another pop-princess – it would be waste of her incredible talent. BTW I just had my hair cut and red gossip tabloid magazine full of celebrities on red carpet. And they all were downright ugly comparing to Katharine – except Catharine(!) Zeta -Jones. K is though prittier. Hey, Tori Spelling - what a sight!

I don't see any problem with her being one of the pop princesses with pipes kinda like Christina aguliera (with class) as long as she's not singing disposable bubblegum songs as radiohead mentioned in an earlier thread, she can maintain her artistic integrity and find mainstream appeal at the same time. She can do broadway when she's in her 30's and her movie carrer is seperate from her music carrer so for now pop-charts as in popular music is the way to go.
I don't want her singing on some stage in NY, I want to hear her on all the radio stations, I want to see her to sing the national anthem at the superbowl, Platinum albums, Grammys, not just the small but respectable theatre/brodway niche. That can come later, she's 22 strike while the iron is hot.
She can be as succesful as any other female singer, she just needs the right songs.

For some reason, amazon hasn't had a ranking for it since yesterday afternoon, and doesn't have an overall ranking for yesterday.
I think the peak number on amazon was #21, and I really can't figure out why that is bad--seems pretty good. Could be better, but #21 as a ranking in ALL music for a CD Single? Not too shabby. The signing announcement apparently resulted in another jump, but who knows what's up now or why amazon isn't listing a ranking.
I think the album will be fine. Diane Warren can write all sorts of songs, and will no doubt capture what is best for Kat.

Yeah if you click on the single the site doesn't show a ranking. But if you scroll over the top 100 sellers, you will actually see it at no. 69.

But what day is that from? It was at 69 a few days ago and jumped up to the 40's yesterday, so I have a hard time believing that 69 is a current ranking.

I think, as a runner-up, low sales numbers are predictable. People think winners are automatically superior, and buy theirs. Kelly Clarkson wouldn’t be able to do better. Adding to that, I think this is also a consequence of a marketing disaster by the people who have handled this. We see a lot of confusions in the marketing efforts - if there is any: replacing Think with SOTR, singing SOTR, instead of My Destiny, in every performance after AI, and then announcing double A-sided single. How can we expect people buy My Destiny after Katharine singing SOTR in every performance. It’s like she’s saying I don’t like My Destiny, but I want you buy it.
I also see her mom, who has failed to become a star, and, while still dreaming to become one, has just reintroduced her album, which competes against her daughter’s album in the market, in every place her smart, 22 years old daughter goes. I don’t know whether she has been involved in every decision so far, during and after the AI competition. If so, I think she should step back and let her professional management team handles her business.
