I used my Cingular phone for text messaging votes, and the house line for my computer, which used a repeat dialing program. I got about 300 text votes in, but I was disappointed in the phone votes. My computer placed around 600 calls between 9pm and 11pm ET, but only seemed to get through around 100 times. I guess after last week the call volume was way up, but jeez, only 100 votes in 2 hours is disappointing. I think I only got through 5 times in the first 30 minutes. Did anyone else have the same problems getting through? Anyone from NJ/NYC?

I was very surprised, because I've been getting in 300+ votes in the past weeks, including 350 last week. The phone line was BUSY the entire two hours-- which I only hope is a good thing, hoping that means she was definitely getting those votes! (So yes, I was disappointed that I could only get through 51 times tonight, but that's how busy the lines were. I stayed on for the whole 2 hours, hitting redial! Usually the phone line has cleared out by the last hour or half-hour, but tonight IT STAYED BUSY THE WHOLE TIME!) And just for the heck of it, I looked at dialidol.com a few minutes ago-- Katharine is in the top 3 tonight on their site. They have Elliott and Mandisa on bottom.

I could only get through about 20 times in the first hour, seriously. The second hour, about 85-90 times. That's great news!!! Like you guys said, the last few weeks,I was able to vote 300 times or more. I don't believe our Kat will ever be in the bottom again!

Well then, this sounds like a giant fly in the AI ointment. It means that all the votes are NOT being fairly counted. Once the phone lines are "saturated" with callers, roughly the same number of votes get counted for each of the top contestants. No wonder the final last year was so close...both groups of fans saturated the lines, so they both got around the same number of votes. What this means also is that Cingular texting can make a BIG difference, since EVERY text vote is counted. So if one contestant has more fans texting their votes, it could put them over the top.
