Any song suggestion for Katharine? What song she should sing in week Top 9? Country crossover like Shania and Faith, or current country like Trisha and Gretchen?

I personally would like her to sing LeAnn Rimes' I Need You, or any nice ballad by Martina McBride.

What do you think?

To be great is to be misunderstood.

Perhaps songs from Faith Hill would be great. . . That's what I think. . .
But it doesn't matter, you guys know Miss Katharine is the best! =D hehehe. . . I'm sure any song she sings would be terrific!^ ^

I think a good one would be her own worked-up version of Garth Brooks' "Shameless". She could really wail on that one, and put some more personality into the song as well.

Glad to see you on this board Rhine!

J,

I have been trying to think of a guy's country song that she could sing too. I think you have an excellent choice. Have you heard the new Blake Shelton song, "Nobody But Me"? I also think maybe an acapello of Brooks and Dunn's "I Believe" would be off the charts.

Yeah, that would certainly work!
"Blue" sounds like a Patsy Cline song, but LeAnn Rimes is a current artist (on both the country and adult contemporary charts in Billboard). So the younger segment of the AI audience would know who LeAnn is (unlike Patsy) ....

I would love to hear her sing "Not Going Down" by JoDee Messina or "I'm Alright"  by JoDee- if you can listen to the words they are perfect!  and they are both powerful crowd raising songs.  Actually a fun one of JoDee's would be "Heads Carolina-Tails California" or "Delicious Surprise" or "It Gets Better".  Now that I think of it- Katharine's voice is very much like JoDee's. Another choice might be Sara Evans "Born to Fly"- very strong song-

The buzz on IDF is that Katharine might sing Alison Krause's "Lucky One". I think Alison Krause has an amazing voice, but maybe a bit high for Katharine? I don't know. If she is singing Alison Krause I would rather hear her sing "When you say nothing at all".

"I will always love you" is great! I didn't know the original version was by Dolly Parton. Katharine loves Whitney Houston, so it'll be great if she picks this song. I think she can nail it.

But yupe like Chad said, people on IDF said she gonna sing a Allison Kraus song... not sure if this song can make her shine...

To be great is to be misunderstood.

"Lucky One" is a pretty song, and Katharine should be able to handle it well, but it's not the kind of well known country-pop blockbuster that I think she needs at this point in the competition. Though it wouldn't surprise me if Kat feels more comfortable with bluegrass than traditional country.

"Long, Long Time" by Linda Ronstadt.  She won't, granted, but it's a beautiful song that she would absolutely nail, and she'd have the judges kissin' her shoes.

Here's my five favorite country song selections for KM:

* "Let Me Let Go" by Faith Hill

* "I Could Not Ask For More" by Sara Evans

* "When You Say Nothing At All" by Alison Krauss and Union Station

* "Blame It On Your Heart" by Patty Loveless

* "Blue Bayou" by Linda Ronstadt

Isn't "Blue Bayou", more of a pop song? Just wondering?

"Blue Bayou" was written and originally recorded by Roy Orbison back in the 60s. And Orbison was certainly a country performer - he recorded in Nashville. Linda Ronstadt's version was a much bigger hit, though. I used to play Ronstadt's version all the time when I was a radio DJ in the 70s. I also heard Linda sing it in person for the first time at a concert I attended  in January of this year !

I just heard another suggestion tonight. How about "End Of the World" by Skeeter Davis, a former Number One record on both the country and pop charts in Billboard? I certainly think it would fits Katharine's voice and style!
