On 04/21/08, KRISTY LEE COOK APPEARED ON 3 SHOWS:
1. LIVE WITH REGIS & KELLY (abc) - God Bless the USA
Kristy Lee Cook is interviewed on Regis and Kelly
2. ELLEN (nbc) - Anyway
3. Interview with JARED COTTER
KLC is an excellent person to interview. She is relaxed, candid, spontaneous, and witty. She strikes me as a mature person, for some reason, but in the youthful humor. She may not appear serious but there is sincerity in her manner of talking. She is a happy person, of course. Being engaged, going home to ride her horse, and waiting for the tour make her all together excited. She aimed to be on the top 5 but finished 7th, but happy for Brooke that she had stayed. She said Brooke deserved it. Her ambtion is to make an album and get that record deal.
At Regis, KLC wore a more formal shiny blouse and dark pants, while at Ellen, she wore a printed (Beloved) brown t-shirt, shiny belt and blue jeans - hair straight and casual, with very minimal makeup on if there was at all. Andy, her fiance was at Regis too. Both Regis and Ellen talked about her horses. Regis talked about the male horse (Montana) that got sold and couldn't be bought back. While Ellen talked about the female horse that saved Kristy's life when she fell over a drop down cliff and the horse apparently had pulled her from the water to the shore, that when she woke up from consciousness, she crawled back to the barn on her hands and knees while her horse followed her. Touching story, and she related it with ease and a grateful attitude and laughter. Ellen loves Kristy's loving of animals as Ellen is also an animal lover. Both KLC's performances did evoke a certain emotion, which is really one great clue at how she could come across the public with her music. Kristy has great future, I can see. She's talented, gorgeous, and has great personality.
Greg, that idea now that seems to seep into the AI community where you don't need to win, but just get the needed exposure and be out as fast as possible ? I'm with you there, Greg. After all, winner or no winner, a lucky guy or girl can be successful - like Aiken, Yamin, Daughtry, Gracin, Covington, Locke, and Hudson. Our Katharine is on her way to doing her share of success with a movie coming out in August and a record she's working on with David Foster. Our home girl Kristy Lee is now officially famous and Selma, Oregon is on the map!! That's what I'm talking about.

Kristy Lee Cook talks about her 'American Idol' experience
I hope those who get emotionally invested with the show can keep that frame of mind about "AI"--because I think most people who intend to compete on there are going in now and discovering that winning isn't necessarily the best thing. This year clinched that idea for me based on the ones in the Top Ten looking more relieved they were going home and being fairly sure they'll get a recording contract from a label that won't keep them under a sword for seven (or is it eight?) years. We still haven't seen an "AI" winner who's been completely comfortable with winning it all, except maybe Carrie Underwood. All the others have taken legal action to get out of the contract or failed to maintain record sales.
There probably isn't any real set pattern to it all, but it seems that the ones we least expected to succeed in the beginning end up being the biggest stars. That's my feeling now about Kristy Lee Cook--who eventually may be the next big thing in Country music next to Carrie Underwood. All the hype over David Archuleta, Carly Smithson, et. al, may not pan out like we'd expect or even if they win it all. It seems shocking to consider Archuleta and Smithson not finding their voices as major recording stars down the road. I may be all wrong, but it's a recurring pattern.
Anyway, congratulations again for getting the personal note back from KLC on your MySpace page. I went on your page last night and saw her comment above mine. And that persuaded me to send her a friend request, even though she rightfully says that she can't leave personal messages unless you use her pic as a default on your page. That was a smart decision by her so she doesn't have to get carpal answering all of her 2,000+ friends.
Take a look in the CoJo Pool thread for some more info on how to get to Selma by car. I've never been particularly there, though it may be worth a trip once I get some time available. It's really better to go by car if you can make it past the extra long straight stretch of I-5 heading to and out of Eugene.
P.S.: Thanks for the vid of KLC on "Regis & Kelly" since I didn't see it (or the "Ellen" interview) live today. Her smoky (yet pure) voice just gets better every time I hear her sing. Only she and Carrie Underwood have made me move closer to being more appreciative of Country...
