Ah Mattsie, I can't lie, these gals are really disappointing me. I expected so much better. Now I bever expected to find anyone of Kat's caliber...thats a once-in-a-lifetime thing. But I was at least hoping for some talent of Jordin or Melinda's level. But I'm not seeing it sofar. Carly continues to be the best of the bunch. Kristy Lee, who I think is a much better vocalist than Kellie P, has yet to showcase her voice, and more importantly she needs to show more personality. Brooke bores me. She's no Carole King and she's no Carly Simon. Sorry, as Simon would say. And the rest, meh. The best all 3 judges could say about Syesha was "Good". Wow, good! But they all loved Amanda, one of my picks to leave.
So whos leaving us this week? It's between our lovely blondes, Kady and Kristy Lee,and Ramiele and Asia'h.
Oh, Bill, gotta hold on tight. Keep voting. The whole Texas is voting. The whole Washington and Oregon are voting. Keep up the faith. I'm not ready yet for a heartbreak.
AI has "jumped the shark" for me too Bill. You're dead on about the judges reactions. They're bored to tears by most of the contestants. Just listen to Randy. Then watch his excitement after Kat performed. Back in AI5, you knew it was bad news for a contestant if Randy didn't jump out of his chair, if Paula didn' cry or stand and clap,if Simon...well, Simon didn't get that excited back then either, that's why you never knew what Simon thought 'till he told us. Matter of fact, Simon is often the only one still critical of performances, greatly disagreeing with the other two.
OK...Brooke White is THE BOMB BABY! I just listened to her with my eyes closed and she has an amazing voice and I can definately see myself digging her CD. She has a soothing voice and very unique, not sure where her nitch would be, maybe like a Sheryl Crow mellowed out? Anyway, Her and Carly Smithson are the only ones who I really believe in when it comes to consistency and vocals.
I'm with you on Brooke....and now that someone mentioned a "mellowed out" Sheryl Crow along with Carol King and Carly Simon....it does seem to fit her. She took a big risk on the Pat Benatar song and in this years competition, if you are successful at the attempt to switch up a song, it may just be the best way to bring attention to yourself. So far, the ones to accomplish that task are Brooke, David Cook and Jason Castro. The other ladies (unfortunately) seem to just blend into each other. Carly Smithson could be the one to pull out "the moment" we all wait for each year.....if she finds the right song.
Right now I think only Carly & Brooke are capable of getting close to the end on the girls side. But the girls are disappointing this year and after Ryan's endless THIS IS THE BEST TOP 24 EVER ranting it's just so...I mean there's plenty of good singers in the bunch but nobody is really dynamic. I guess Idol probably will never get back to what it was in Season 5. That was likely it's peak and it's sliding downhill slowly. Although this year is better than last year. There's more overall talent but the personalities still aren't there. That's what really made Season 5. It felt like we knew all of them. Even Paris with her squeaky voice that annoyed me. I still felt like I had some stake in her.
And sure Kristy Lee probably does sing better than Kellie but it doesn't matter. That all by itself doesn't make for an interesting show. I just wish Kady could figure out how to take everything she does off-stage on to it. Because it's not happening for her. Although I have a hunch she survives tonight for some reason.
My guess to go this week is Kristy Lee & Asia'h. Amanda saved herself this week. But I wouldn't be that surprised by anything tonight on the girls side.
COMPLETELY CRUSHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I just realized, what is an opera-voiced singer doing on AI? Could she have been asked to downplay herself so she could get the early boot to launch her CD soon? (Harakiri style) I'm reading 37 emails right now about it, and they are livid about the idea that AI MIGHT have asked Kady to give up sooner as her various talents are overwhelming AI including her music on myspace and thus overshadowing the rise of projected winner co-teenager David Archuleta. Preposterous innuendo but could be true. Whatever! I also read that there have been serious complaints against AI that Kady was not given video coverage during the Hollywood week. She was completely edited out while showcasing Josiah Leming who didn't make it to top 24. Remember Cardin McKinney? Apparently, she was supposed to have been included on the top 24, but that would crowd this year's idol with too many hotties. Poor Cardin. However, she is being encouraged to come back next year (to be next year's talented idol hottie).
For consolation, I LISTEN to her myspace. (www.myspace.com/kadymalloyfans)
Listening right now to Kady Malloy's version of "Fields of Gold" (with a sob) Will hibernate for a while, waiting for Kady's CD.
Well, I still have my KRISTY LEE COOK. Thank God!!!!!!!! Yes, mad pimping is now cool!
There's a lot of theories about everything that goes on with Idol. And while I believe Kady is very talented, she hasn't been able to take that to the stage with her the last three weeks and ultimately it cost her. I thought she was going to survive and Kristy Lee was going to go just on a hunch (even though I thought she was better than Kady this week). The reality is Amanda's performance was a surprise (14 of 19 in the pool picked her to go this week) and it caused somebody else less expected to go (Kady with 5 of 19 votes).
I'm not sure what to make of this group of girls. It'll definitely make for some interesting ballots in the pool. I have a feeling they are going to be all over the map in spots 2-9.
Right Paula, Kady was most certainly terrified, and it doesn't look great for her as a performer right now. But as she matures she might learn to handle her nerves. Who knows, maybe we'll see her back on AI12?
And Amanda. Yes, she is a really good female rocker in the Joplin mold. Unfortunately there's little call for that sort of thing right now. Actually, there was little call even back then for edgy female rockers. Joplin was in a class of 1.
I merely stated that I've been reading my emails about some speculations. I did not imply anything on my own!! I was just sharing with everyone what I read. Everyone is a spectator in this show. Anything goes!
No need to be sarcastic.
Speculations are not falsehoods. That's what people write on their blogs everyday. I am not spreading falsehood!! I don't deserve a charge like that. Have you got issues with me? Sour-graping over Kady's elimination-- that's most probably all there is to it. No need to be so maniacal or too aggressive about this anymore than you've taken it now. Some people or fans would just brush that comment aside to leave it for some bad feeling, which it is, that can recover in time.
To the site owner: I'm grateful for this site, and I love Katharine. But with all due respect to the owner, admins, and moderators, I'm really feeling uncomfortable about Keefir trying (almost spitefully) to give me hell everytime I make a post. Why do I feel he's mean and arrogant? To another Kat fan? I still got many good friends around here so I couldn't just leave this site. But I need to stay away a while. But where I'm going, Keefir won't be there I'm sure, and I'm glad.
Sorry, Keefir, but you're just one out of the 4700+ fans in ths site who seems not to see eye to eye with me. That's great, you know. But again, you can't be too tough or rough on another Kat fan while giving Kat the utmost respect. I really don't know what to make of you anymore, Keefir. First, you're a Kat fan, next, you're an anti Kat-fan. Try to be more congenial, will you? People are all different from each other. But you don't go about fan sites attacking people like you do. Keefir, I wish you all the best in life, but, please leave me alone. This veteran needs peace, badly, and I mean it. Stop attacking me, please!!! Thank you.
If it wasn't for Simon, it wouldn't have been like this, but if not for Simon, there wouldn't be any AI, or will there be, anyway? When he leaves of course. Simon can make anyone go mad and many will even blame Simon for every idol's downfall. I blamed Simon for Kat's losing the title because he declared Hicks to be the winner right away even before the people voted that night. Anything goes in this show. But life goes on and it's not the end of the world. So, everyone, please allow me to post Kady's "Groovy Kind of Love" one last time. I needed to do that and I want to grow older. Yes, I'm feeling so very blue too thinking of Kady, that is, but I'm actually relieved she's no longer in AI.
I could almost tell that this is, in fact, more of a personality contest than a singing one. When people buy cd's, they like to hear the music. And that's what really matters in the end. In season 5, they took a highly personable guy to win. Now he's out of a recording contract. In season 2, they took a highly personable guy (Aiken) not to win. He's still in a recording contract. The music industry is one of the most unpredictable places on earth to be.
I like the advice Kellie Pickler gave to future idols: -- "Stay away from mean people."
I watch ai regularly on tv and I also keep a copy of the show, but these mp3's are brilliant. I actually believe that Kady Malloy has one of the best voices this year.
mattsie:
Keefir1: How would Kady feel upon discovering that people are saying that she purposely threw the competition and didn't even try to make top 12 or 10 in the biggest singing competition in the country?? Not very respectful of Kady's fans to be spreading rumors about their contestant"s integrity. In your words....no Need to spread falsehoods!! BTW,sarcasm is an art I practice daily!! Here's a Kat vs.Kady throw down: http://www.idolstalker.com/idol-face-off-kady-malloy-vs-katharine-

Keefir1:
You all have to excuse my interrupting of this bitterness on Katlandia. I'm old enough to know what could be behind all this. Since I'm officially a Katharine Mcphee fan, let me say something from the get go. After all, I've been reading for weeks before I registered. Mattsie seems to be a great fan of both Katharine's and Kady Malloy's. Keefir1 is a fan of Katharine's but not Kady's. Mattsie writes opinions and suppositions just like any other fan or blogger. But I like Mattsie's technological knowhow of those mp3 music. I also noticed Mattsie posted some great photos. I think Mattsie is a great writer and asset to this club. Nevertheless, Keefir1 thinks so highly of himself to the point of being too conceited to concede that he can be arrogant and mean, but doesn't admit to any wrong doing, doesn't apologize at all. Keefir1 has already offended Mattsie and so Mattsie now asks for help. I felt I should come to Mattsie's aid. It is not nice to be offensive of other fan's opinions. Keefir1 has been on Mattsie's tail all the time watching Mattsie's writings like a hawk and that to me is pretty annoying. I say to you, Keefir1, thanks for your welcome to me and my wife on the other forum, but let me put it this way. You may mean so well with others, and you write too of course, but not as thorough and detailed as Mattsie does, though. But as Mattsie pointed out, please be more congenial, that means, sociable. You have to quit contradicting other people's opinions. They have the same right to be a fan as you do. In these forums, you can be allowed to write a one way opinion without having to reply to another one's opinion. One may not reply either to other people's opinion. Nobody is required to come up with pleasing answers, and no one is supposed to be a bully, like keefir1. I am semi-retired born and raised in Nevada, but now residing in CA. Part of my job is to see to it that people under my supervision get their rights addressed. If I have done something helpful today, I would have done something great. Thank you all.
Thank you brachs77 for taking the initiative to help bring about the conclusion of a very unfortunate situation between Mattsie and Keefir1.
I have been a member of this site since May 2006 and I honestly can say that this has been the first time that I've witnessed this kind of activity between members.
We do have some very astute members on this site who are interesting philosophers, have great writing abilities, are extremely knowledgeable on the business side of the music industry as well as the technical end and some even are performers themselves. And then, we have the media gurus who are simply the best around and always willing to enlighten those of us who are media and Internet challenged! We all share a deep love of music and most importantly, of Katharine McPhee and her many incredible talents!
I hope this whole thing between Mattsie and Keefir1 does not keep people from enjoying our fan site. We really are an invaluable source of information on all things Katharine. Also, we share a healthy respect for each other and I find that the members are very supportive when called upon in times of need. As I mentioned in my "welcome note", we are quite like a large "family" and thus do experience what can turn into somewhat "boisterous" and widely varied opinions on topics that are under discussion! All in all, it's a very healthy way to relieve stress! That's why this latest "uproar" between two of our members is so not like us! I hope that you will give us a chance to demonstrate (in our own sometimes "wacky" way) that this fan site is full of wonderful people who share fun, and enjoy encouraging Kat along her road to stardom!
Please make sure you check out katpedia.com. The guys that put this site together are fantastic! It's like a "one-stop-shop" or "look and listen" to all of Katharine's works. I know you and your wife will really enjoy the videos and will become even bigger fans of Katharine!
I too would like to welcome you brachs77 and thank you for your diplomacy.
As "chief cook and bottle washer" around here, I have the unenviable position of having to moderate these little squabbles among members, and it pains me to have to do so. You see I appreciate all of our members, because they all love Kat, and they all bring something unique and (mostly) wonderful to the table. I don't like seeing any of you upset or even uncomfortable posting here, since I know that no one deserves or needs to feel stressed in their chosen leisure activities. So it's doubley difficult for me to reprimand anyone, or suspend or ban them.
Please guys, let's join together in our love, support and appreciation of our lovely Katharine, and try to overlook or at least tolerate our differences.
