Hello everyone,
The "CoJo American Idol Pool" will return to KatharineFans.com for Season 7!!! I will start the official thread with rules, deadlines, etc. once the Top 24 is selected. The rules will be similiar to last season's, and I'm looking into getting some prizes, etc. for this year's pool. So . . . if you think you know how to predict talent and who the next American Idol will be, then come on down!!!!!
Sign-up Instructions: Please post your username on this thread to participate. Once everyone is signed up, I will start the official thread and assign everyone a Pool Number, etc. I will also keep this thread updated with deadlines and any other pertinent information.

Hi sweet Tommy! How are ya? I'm glad you're lovin' NorCal, isn't it the most to say the least?!!!! (thought I'd throw out a little Patty Simcox for ya).
Glad to see some returning participants, and welcome to the new ones. I'm definitely feeling a different vibe on the talent this year. The Dallas auditions have been the best, we could have done without a few of the freak shows in the 2-hour Philly auditions. I'm glad AI is getting back to focusing on the singers, this season, it should be a good competition - I'm feeling it!
Ooo, I'm loving this! Lots of peeps are signing up, thanks guys and dolls!! A good time should be had by all. My predictions without even seeing the rest of the auditions, it's a guy's year to win, I still am waiting on my male Kat. Also, I think we'll have an African American male in the Top 10, so they'll make the tour, there hasn't been any African American males in the Top 10 since Season 4 - they are waaaay overdue!
My big-screen TV is in the process of getting repaired right now--though I have a replacement TV to use until I get it back. The big-screen should be fixed before the glass-breaking audition fest is over in the next couple of weeks, however...so I should be able to watch this season unfold in peace and all its digital glory.
So put me down for now, Co. I may have to drop out later if my schedule gets too busy (my writing career just took off into the deep end of the pool for the first time this month)--but I can generally spare time to watch the show twice a week and come in and comment/predict the eliminee by the weekend. I had so much fun doing this last year that it's worth it--especially if you're writing as a career and want to keep studying the show as a method of understanding the human condition, psychology and musical smarts.
Yeah, those above three things are still strong enough on the show where it keeps bringing me back despite all the other annoyances. It all depends on what you want to get out of it.
I beg on my knees, though, for "AI" to at least cut their audition episodes in half next year. They're only hurting themselves by prolonging those segments into three or four weeks. Of course, the viewers usually come aboard when the competition starts getting going--but why not start off with some of the early rounds of the same-day-tape portions? It gives the show more immediacy from the beginning rather than realizing those auditions are from six months ago.
The wannabe contestants will be in Hotlanta, today, Super Fat Tuesday, February 5. I believe this is the last of the auditions followed by "The Best of the Rest" tomorrow night. Next week will be the Hollywood rounds and the Top 24 revealed! So, start your handicapping and rewatching the prior auditions to see if you've picked the next Kelly, Carrie, Taylor, Jordin, etc.
Barlo wants to play! Glad I haven't missed the start yet. I've been having trouble showing up around here (who'da thunk I'd have a life? ) but this should pull me in once a week.
Thanks Co Baby for organizing / hosting this fun!
I'm in of course. Just thought I'd make it official though.
I'm in.
Unlike last year I think we should see the performances before we vote on who's going home week to week.
I agree with Bigshady. That would be fair, and we would be satisfied with our votes.
Yes!!!!
Hi all, I'll try to get the official pool thread up tomorrow. The rules will be the same as last year, for this week only you will pick who you think will be eliminated on Thursday by the stated deadline time. I'm allowing it for the first week because we haven't had a chance to see a full performance from them, but after that you'll need to make the predictions on Tuesdays by the set deadline.
Unfortunately, there's too many sites like "Vote for the Worst" and "Dial Idol" that could influence your selections - so I'll be sticking with the same rules as last season.
OK, here's some research on DialIdol's accuracy last year:
Top 2 Week: Jordin,
