American Idol aims to improve season 7

This time around, the show will redirect attention to the finalists and bring back alums such as McPhee and season-two winner Ruben Studdard during results shows to keep fans abreast of what they're up to, Lythgoe said. There will be a new set to spice up a tried-and-true format.
Movie actors like Paul Newman, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Bette Davis make me want to live in the era they lived but I could have been just as inspired even now while I watch their work in films.

Yeah...so now they want to bring back Kat.They could have helped her sales last season but chose not invite her then!Motivation?Possibly Randy wants to promote his cd and that's fine,but how about some fairness here?Of course,we're not privy to all the backstage manipulations...we only read the dumb statements that RCA puts out.Nigel might have said:"I have a great idea...let's dump Kat and Ruben from the label and then invite them back on the show.....they're not MAINSTREAM,but what the hell....Kelly and Carrie are way too busy to be guests...they're being MAINSTREAM!"

I noticed they got a lot of names wrong in the article so it's difficult to rely too much on what they say. As far as Kat being on Idol this season, I do remember when the voting was going on asking what past idol would you like to see appear in the upcoming season, it finally ended up to be a contest between Kat and Clay. Although Clay won that contest, I'm sure it was still noted that a lot of people were interested in seeing Kat appear this season. As far as Ruben goes, I can't even speculate about that because I know too little. If she should appear, I think it would help her. Lots of people watch AI.

Well Ruben is still with 19 Entertainment and they want to help him in his search for a a label. Plus he has his role of stage to promote. Kat has her movie and maybe they realize she will have another deal by then, who knows? But they do say this came from Nigel Lythgoe so who knows. He did like Kat if I remember.

Simon Lythgoe totally loved Kat.  It's a little confusing if they brought her back this year when they didn't have her on last year when she was in the middle of trying to sell her album but...who knows in this crazy business sometimes...

I mean what would she sing?  I guess it would have to be the duet with Elliott, nothing else makes sense.  Bring her back to sing SOTR!  Maybe they'll have former Idols come back and sing their signature songs from the show.  Maybe?  Could be?  Just a thought.

Sorry Joe, I get those English guys confused, too many Simons and Nigels. It is Nigel Lythgoe they are quoting. He has a son named Simon. My bad but still he is EP so maybe the odds are good for a return this year.

What I would love is if they would bring her back with her girls and band for a Leno repeat of Love Story...now THAT would do her justice. AND....it's never too late for a low-selling album to pick up sales after all, look what Kat did for KT Tunstalls sales of her CD which had already been out for awile...I bought it at Best Buy for $7.50, now I see it going for $14.99.  I don't know if it has reached platinum but I wouldn't be surprised.

It made me sad today to hear on the radio, on the internet all the negative publicity about Katharine. From selling wedding pictures to the boot from the RCA people. I just don't understand all of this. I for one certainly liked hearing good things about her than all the other singers out there whose lives are a total mess. She is pretty, she certainly can sing. Must be my age but I sure thought she was a far better role model for young girls than some of the others. I just don't get it. But I still like her and I hope someday she shows them all and goes right to the top!
