I know I caused a major stir some weeks ago, citing Wikipedia for announcing that Kat had left RCA. It turned to be true anyway.
Now Wikipedia says that Kat signed a deal with Warners yesterday, but if it's true, it didn't happen imo during one day.
I really hope that's 100% true and what a future waits for Kat. First of all David Foster who really adore her! Making her second CD and songs written by him and his daughter. WOW!
2008 will be year of C (K)ATWOMAN!!
I don't see anything like this on Kat's wiki page. Not that it would mean anything anyway. When something is announced it will come from a more reliable source than Wiki.
I just read an interesting and kind article about Kat leaving RCA. Here's the link and a very interesting quote from it....hmmmm....rumors starting to congeal in the press???

So what’s next for Katharine? Well, she’s in talks with another undisclosed label, and she’ll be starring in the upcoming film “I Know What Boys Like.” Not too shabby!
Gossip Girls
I don't know if it was meant to be mean or hurtful GB. After all, it didn't say she wasn't good, just that she isn't commercial. And I don't have a problem with that. I mean, if I wanted to listen to Britney or Fergie, I wouldn't necessarily be a Kat fan. Neither Eva Cassidy nor Jane Monheit are mainstream. Nor are a great many other wonderfully talented singers singers and musicians. In fact some would agrue that the absolute best artists are never mainstream.
So RCA was just stating that they don't have any interest in any talent other than Top 40 mainstream commercial mega-acts. No wonder I have so few RCA CDs in my collection!
^Right Ken, it just might have been a case of the"You can't quit, you're fired!" mentality.
Right GB, and this is exactly what Kat is doing.
She will tell us as soon as she has solid news.
RCA is lying when they say they are willing to be patient with people they think have the goods. Maybe they used to be like that...they aren't anymore. These labels aren't doing very well anymore and they simply can't take chances on what they don't think are sure things. Why do you think Clive fought with Kelly C so hard? Kelly is one of their few locks to sell millions and she had to go off and "experiment" with something not quite as mainstream and it killed her sales (relative to "Breakaway").
So maybe they do think Kat's is talented but if they really don't think she can crack the mainstream and SELL...that's all they really care about. It's got nothing to do with liking Katharine or respecting her talent. And that's a shame. These labels did used to give people a chance if they believed in them. Not anymore. Because as they said, "They ARE in the big leagues."
It's no different in television though...I've read plenty of stories about how a show like Seinfeld probably would have been axed after 6 episodes these days because it didn't have good ratings right away. Nobody has patience with anything anymore...
Oh well, Katharine will be fine. She'll probably be better off with a label that actually chose to have her instead of one that was forced to take her. But it does make RCA look really stupid to say that someone like Katharine with her voice, her looks and her personality isn't worth taking a chance on for at least a second album that could be done on a normal recording schedule.
Actually I heard today, that Annie Lennox, the fabulous voice from Eurythmics, got the boot from Sony BMG!! This company must have big problems to find out, whom to keep whom to sack. I'm glad Kat left RCA. I don't worry about Kat - she knows what to do and we will soon see her joining Warners.
