Report Katharine to possibly star in the movie "The Storyteller"

Cinematically speaking

Those state tax credits for filmmakers are going fast, and local producers Jeffrey D. Erb and Joe "The Butcher" Nicolo, under the shingle Feverpitch Pictures, are planning four locally shot movies this spring:

Remorse, a psychological thriller, will star Rittenhouse Square-bred Katherine Moennig (The L Word), Eion Bailey (Band of Brothers, Fight Club, Almost Famous) and Melissa George (30 Days of Night, Turistas, Amityville Horror). Lumberton native Quinn Saunders, a University of Southern California film grad, will direct.

Thicker, a dark comedy based on the short film Enfants Terribles, will star Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Dogma), Christopher Lloyd (Addams Family, Back to the Future, Taxi) and Leslie Zemeckis (Beowolf, The Polar Express, Spiders). Terry Nemeroff will direct.

The Storyteller, a drama, will star Wes Bentley (P2, Ghost Rider, The Four Feathers) and possibly Katharine McPhee. Rob Masciantonio (Cold Hearts) will direct.

Illegal Superman, a drama, will star Eddy Martin (Spanglish, Just Jordan, Rebound), Mark Indelicato (Ugly Betty) and Leonor Varela (Hell Ride, Blade 2, The Tailor of Panama). Vicente Amorim (Good) will direct.

Some people come into our lives and quickly go.Others stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same. That my friends is Katharine McPhee

That's exciting news! Thanks Amanda. Boy, Kat is sure busy. Has she even had a week off to vacation since AI? It's a good thing she likes to work so hard.

So what's up with the writers' strike? How does that affect this? Indie movies can have a problematical enough existence without stuff like that. Oh well, at least she has one big screen effort in the can and sooner or later we'll all get to see it. I think of IKWBL as something that will show the world more Katharine in the sense of how does she come across as a big screen presence, how does she look, can she grab audiences in a role that's not a starring role... in other words, more of Katharine like her music is more of her. Next I want to see if she can handle a role where she's not being anyone you'd think of as her or part of her, maybe even someone you wouldn't like very well--in other words, can she act?

It would be great if this film works out for Kat!. The other 2 indie films haven't exactly done that YET, but hopefully they will be filmed eventually. .I'll be really excited if we find out Kat is actually in the movie and they are starting filming.

It's a drama...wonder what it's about.  Regardless, it's good to know she's gone more things in the works (possibly).  Not that this is a surprise but...so what's this mean in would be shot in Philadelphia?  I think I read that right.

Anyway...and from that description it sounds like she'd be the lead female character which is cool.

The movie with Anna Farris that she finished shooting not long ago is supposed to be release this Spring.

It's always great to hear about new projects for Kat to be involved in, but I must admit to worrying some about her focus in 2008. She has plans to start recording a new album, also is planning a wedding, and now a new movie role. These are all events that require her 100% focus and committment. I hope her music doesn't suffer as a result of the other distractions. JMO

Well, she can hire a wedding planner, and indie movies don't usually take forever to film, do they?
And it would be nice if she could get an album out before next year's holiday season to take advantage
of the super buying season, but there's really no time table like there was for the first album. She can
record whenever she gets ahold of the right songs, and I'll bet the producers of The Last Caller would
be more than willing to accommodate her schedule. She does have some pull with some of them.

Reported at IDF by Bigshady, who has been in touch with the writer/director on this project (Robert Masciantonio).

"The rumors are true. Wes has officially signed on to the project to play the main character, JOSEPH. Katharine has been offered the roll of TINA in "The Storyteller". Joseph writes children's books and Tina is hired as his assistant.

Everything is still "in talks" with Katharine but I'm hopeful that she'll come on board. I'll be going to LA soon to meet with her and several other actors; I haven't spoken with her directly yet.

I'll be posting updates in blog directly as things fall into place.

Thanks for checking in. I'll let you know more as soon as I do.

Rob"

Wes is Wes Bentley.
Sounds like they want her. So, she's getting chances to prove herself, so that when Spielberg finally gets ready to do Wicked, since he already knows she can sing, he'll also know if she can act. Should make casting a lot easier.

Update from his Myspace:

"The Storyteller" UPDATE
Current mood: hopeful
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Hello all,

As of right now, Wes Bentley is totally on board. He will be playing JOSEPH. Later this week I'll be flying out to meet Wes and a couple other actors. At this point, Katharine McPhee is on the list. She's been offered a role but nothing has happened yet. We haven't met... we haven't even spoken. But she's interested in the role and I'm interested in having her play the part. So if we both agree, it should happen.

So we're all on the same page: Wes = yes.
McPhee = perhaps.

Happy New Year!!

All the movie buzz that continues to surround Kat is such an encouraging indication that pros in the biz are seeing the potential for Kat's film career;something that we've known all along. Aside from her talent and beauty,I'm sure the word is out that Kat is a non-diva,a team player and fun.....who wouldn't want to be on a set with such a person?????

Yeah, and if you get lucky, she'll take you out for shopping and a pizza and your picture will be on TMZ
the next day. But seriously, I'm tickled shirtless at all this interest in her. She's really a triple threat. At least.
And this guy's seriously interested even though he's never met her, so she's obviously a concept with him.
That's priceless.

The good thing is that this appears to be a legitimate movie, and Kat hasn't accepted, yet. Maybe she's getting offers for even better roles/movies, and she can afford to be choosy about the projects she takes on. Although the talk about state tax credits expiring means she'll have to shoot it in the spring, or not at all. But I wish we would hear more buzz about the new album (collaborators, song lyrics, producers, etc.).

So what's up with the writers' strike? How does that affect this?

It'll delay it indefinitely--especially if the directors and actors go on strike next June as predicted. And if the writers are still striking then (probably unlikely)--then all of Hollywood is in shut-down mode until producers get off their couches loaded with their millions under the cusions and realize how important the net is for the future of residuals.

Yes, we writers are passionate about this--even if freelancers aren't part of the Guild.

This sounds like a promising movie project for Kat--and I'm especially glad that Kat's focusing somewhat on indie features. Even so, it's ironic that her first film in the can now was right from the Hollywood system rather than an indie. You'd think the indie features would get the green light first before something like "IKWBL", but such is the mystery of the Hollywood green and red light.

Obviously, we have to keep in mind that this is probably overly tentative again. We're learning that it's too easy to get excited when we hear about Kat possibily being in a film adaptation of "Success" or some other big-deal project. The reality is that most of them probably won't happen for various reasons. Even "The Last Caller" has been put on hold (maybe because of the emerging strike). We can only hope they're being put into limbo for a script rewrite. In the indie world, maybe...but certainly not in the main Hollywood system.

If nothing else, we can see ample evidence here now that a lot of A-list actors, directors and producers want to work with Kat in something. It's just bad timing, though, that Kat's film career had to start during a tumultuous time in Tinseltown.

The writers strike definitely has an impact on all of Hollywood. Appearances and acting roles all are on hold. It would be great if they ended that strike soon for Kat and everyone else

I'm just happy to see a high level of interest in her as an actress.
And very glad IKWBL is more or less in the can.
In the long run, she may or may not sell Carrie's numbers, and she may or may not get cast in
the next Gone With The Wind. But as long as she's making music and making movies and we
get to see and hear her, I'll be pretty happy. And if that other stuff happens, it's icing.

It's not like she's doing these things by herself.  They already said she's got a wedding planner...I'm guessing this movie will take 4-6 weeks to shoot...and she's going to have 2-3 times as much time to record this album as the last one.  I hardly see a problem.
