Celebrity sightings are about as rare in El Cajon as a cool breeze in July.
In a departure from recent years, next month's Mother Goose Parade will feature a deep roster of stars ranging from young stars to TV veterans.
The 61-year-old Mother Goose Parade, known more for its storybook character floats and beauty queens than Hollywood glitz and glamour, is getting an extreme makeover.
Among the bevy of young stars scheduled to perform or appear are Corbin Bleu of “High School Musical”; singer Jesse McCartney; “American Idol” runner-up Katharine McPhee; and Mario Lopez from “Dancing with the Stars.”

I agree! Why in the world did they choose that picture???????? And, Kat must be wondering when she will ever be able to have her name appear without the "American Idol Runnerup" tag!
I used to live on Mission Gorge Rd, on the way out to El Cajon! Too bad I can't make the trip out to try and get more coverage for Kat! I do have friends yet in TierraSanta, but don' know if I can convince them to cover it for us. I'll give it a shot though!

They have a better picture of Kat, and a nice bio of her. Grandstand tickets seem reasonable-$15-$20. You can watch a pre-show of the performers. Sounds like a great opportunity to see Kat up close!

Corbin Bleu of “High School Musical,” singer Jesse McCartney, “American Idol” runner-up Katharine McPhee are among those scheduled to participate. The parade begins at 12:30 p.m., and the Mother Goose Parade Association has set up a shuttle-bus service that will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., stopping at the Parkway Plaza mall, Pernicano's Family Restaurant and the El Cajon Transit Center. Round-trip tickets are $5 and $2.50 for seniors and children 10 and younger. No one-way tickets will be sold. –L.N.
