Kat to perform at the High Hopes Tribue Dinner in Denver

Kat has joined the galaxy of stars performing at the High Hopes Tribute Dinner in Denver September 29th. The show also features performances with David Foster, Smokey Robinson, Babyface. George Lopez will host as Master of Ceremonies. The night will provide entertainment reminiscent of those seen at the Carousel Balls presented in Denver by Barbara and Marvin Davis from 1978 through1985.

Steve Farber, Colorado leader and founder of the American Transplant Foundation will be the honoree at the benefit for the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes and the Children’s Diabetes Foundation which serve over 5,000 children with diabetes. Tickets are limited as the event is approaching a sell-out. For information call 303-863-1200.

At least we know what she's going to be doing after filming her new movie.  Kat is awesome.  I can't think of another young celebrity that does so much charity, so often.  I'm sure there are other young celebrities that do, but I can't think of anyone right now, can you?

I'd love to go but have a feeling that the tickets for this kind of affair will be out of my reach. I did call the phone number listed, this morning. But, the Diabetes Foundation isn't open on Saturday and there was no general extention to enter for information on the affair. Just my luck! It's rather sad because I think I'm the only Denver McPhan (I actually live 32 miles north of Denver) on KMF and if I can't afford to attend, then I guess we won't have any first hand reports on her performance. I may try to get in touch with some of the local TV and Radio stations to see if they have any more info. Wish me luck!

Tickets, needless to say, are at a premium. Call 303-863-1200 before it's too late.

DAVID FOSTER CURRENT BIOGRAPHY
http://www.executivevisions.com/projectdetails.asp?ProjectID=114

In 1993, Foster was named Billboard Magazine’s "Top Singles Producer" and "Top R&B Producer." He was also the year’s top Grammy nominee with seven nominations, taking home his third award for "Producer of the Year" for The Bodyguard movie soundtrack.

Foster’s producing credits include songs on such albums as Celine Dion’s Grammy Award-winning “Falling Into You,” which spawned his two hit singles, “Because You Loved Me” and “To Love You More.” He also produced Natalie Cole’s “Unforgettable” and Barbra Streisand’s “Broadway” and “Back to Broadway.” From 1994-1997, four of his productions – “Unbreak My Heart” (Toni Braxton), “I Will Always Love You” (Whitney Houston), “I Swear” (All-4-One), “Because You Loved Me” (Celine Dion) – each reached No.1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart where they remained for a total of 42 weeks. This translated to holding down the coveted #1 spot for an unprecedented 20% of a 4 year period.

This is indeed great news!Just the thought of Kat being in the same venue as David Foster should give us hope of a potential collaboration!!I was watching some of his youtube videos...the man is a musical genius!I hadn't realized that he had written many of the Chicago hits with Peter Cetera! The man can write, and produce, a hit at the drop of a hat!Let's keep positive thoughts about their reunion and hopefully this may be televised!!! And yes,it does seem that Kat is constantly keeping to her "giving back"mantra and that is so admirable!!

Good luck with that Moms. Usually tickets for this type of event are rather expensive; the funds go to charity. I think it's a great thing for Katharine to once again work with DF. It may be wishful thinking, but hopefully it is a sign that she will collaborate with him.

Since there's much fascination with David Foster on this board, here's a couple of articles about his recent gala in Calgary:

A session with Foster

Q: I've been looking at the people you've worked with and it's unbelievable. Two Beatles, Michael Jackson, Madonna. . . Is there anyone who got away? Is there someone you still want to work with?

A: It's funny you should say that. Last night I was at the Justin Timberlake concert and I was thinking what an incredible artist he is. It's not really my forte what he does, but I produced one hit for *NSYNC back in the day called Music Of My Heart, and we've known each other peripherally since then. Last night he suggested we get together in December and write some songs, and I thought that was very cool.

Foster hits charitable chord at gala

Renowned Canadian producer David Foster, a 14-time Grammy Award winner who has worked with everyone from Michael Jackson to Michael Buble, raised $3 million from Calgary's elite for the charity foundation named after him at a star-studded gala Saturday night.

Close to 1,800 Calgarians dressed to the nines paid $1,500 for a dinner and concert event featuring Lionel Richie, Peter Cetera, Sinbad, Beverly Mahood, Kalan Porter and others, all to benefit the David Foster Foundation.

Yes, the thought of a reunion between Kat and David Foster is encouraging. I'd love nothing more than to see the two of them work together in the future. If that actually happens, Kat's sophomore CD could be spectacular and regain her all those fans that loved her singing the standards on AI!

My thoughts as well. I have always thought that Kat's "godfather", David Foster believed in her talent since the time he and Andrea Bocelli met her during AI and worked with her on the concerts with Bocelli in California and at the JC Penney Jam.  Added to this was Foster arranging Kat's hit "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" which is still charting on Billboard today!!!  And Kat has continued to support Foster's charity events as well.  Now that a year has passed since Kat has had the opportunity to go her own way musically, it's time for Kat to go back to her mentor and "godfather" David Foster for his proven successful direction!!!

We are definitely working together -- working on a record together. She sings so magnificently, it's just amazing -David Foster-

I may not be able to afford a ticket the High Hopes Tribute on Sept. 29th but I am trying to at least get some coverage of the event! Here is the email that I sent to the Entertainment Reporter with 9News (NBC) here in Denver. I was amazed that he responded immediately to my email. I will try other TV stations in the area to try and get some sort of coverage for Kat!

To: Montgomery, Kirk

Subject: High Hopes Tribute Dinner

Dear Kirk,

I have been a viewer of 9News for 30 years. I've never written to anyone in
the TV Industry before, so if my request seems a bit "odd", just chalk it up
to inexperience on my part. So, here goes!

On September 29, 2007, the Mile High Diabetes Foundation is having their
High Hopes Tribute Dinner in Denver. It is supposed to be Denver's answer to
the Los Angeles Carousel Ball benefiting the National Diabetes Foundation.
Now, I may have some of the details a bit incorrect but that is generally
what is going on.

The evening is going to be with "David Foster and Friends". I'm sure that
you are aware of who David Foster is. Also, slated on the bill for the event
will be Smokey Robinson (of Smokey Robinson & the Miracles...that tells you
how long I've been on this earth! LOL!), Babyface, and my very favorite new
recording artist, Katharine McPhee!!

I belong to a fan site of Katharine's called katharinesfans.com. I am
probably one of the oldest members of that site and pretty much the only
Denver area Kat fan registered with this particular site. However, everyone
on the site is very aware of all of Katharine's upcoming appearances and are
thrilled that she will be once again performing with David Foster. Katharine
performed in February at the Los Angeles Carousel Ball with David
accompanying on the piano. Her first encounter with him was when she was a
contestant on American Idol. David Foster and Andrea Bocelli were mentoring
the Idol 5 contestants and were very impressed with Katharine. David Foster
then produced Katharine's recorded version of "Over the Rainbow" which is
still on the charts!  After American Idol was over, Katharine was asked to
perform as a guest artist on Andrea's "Amour Tour" at his dates in
California that included the televised JCPenney Jam. Andrea and Katharine
were magic together!

The other dedicated fans were hoping that I would be able to go the upcoming
Tribute in Denver but, this type of charity affair is out of my league!

The next best option that I can think of is to mention this to you, in the
hopes that KUSA could do an entertainment/social feature on the High Hopes
Tribute Dinner. I would never be so bold as to fantasize that I would be
able to actually meet Katharine McPhee...well, I guess I could always dream.

But, perhaps you would be able to do an interview with her and the others
and televise it so that I could post it (or a link to it) on the
katharinesfans.com site.

Kirk, I know that you are extremely busy, but if you could possibly email me
back about this, I would be so extremely grateful! Even if you can't do
anything for me, at least I can advise the other fan members that I did my
best to get coverage of the event for Katharine.

Looking forward to your response!

Kathleen,

Thank you so much for the email. I promise you I will do my best. There are a few challenges however, -- The fact the event is on a Weekend night is a challenge for me. I usually do not work weekends, but would try to cover this anyway, however, that night I'm the MC for the "Pink Ribbon Foundation" annual dinner and fundraiser. A great cause I've been a part of for a number of years. -

The other challenge is that most if not all of the "talent" that will be performing that night don't even fly into Denver until that very day -- In a perfect world they would arrive a day or two early, so I could at least request interviews. But it has been my experience that they usually fly in that afternoon and leave the following morning.

I will look into it however, and do the best I can.
