By saying that I mean "Where is Katharine"?  We see a bunch of these pictures and hear about her attending many events but that's all we get at the moment. Don't get me wrong the pictures are great but we are in desperate need of a video. I know the engagement rumor probably isn't our business to discuss but she could do a video blog to at least let us know what she's been doing for the past....oh I'd say 2 months now. I realize she is busy (as all artists are) but if she finished shooting " I Know What Boys Like" and it doesn't seem like she is releasing a 3rd single (at least as far as we know) then just what exactly is she doing with the time that she has right now? We need some kind of explanation and soon or else some of us might go insane just thinking out it lol. I am hoping that we will receive something from her sooner or later.

Right now the only excitement in Kat Land is the tumbleweed rolling around (if you know what I mean).

She really had us spoiled there for awhile, but you're right, those video blogs were so much fun. I guess we're just lucky that she shows up in so many magazines, blogs, and photo sites.

What is bothering me right now is that it will be at least a year before we have any new Kat music or any airplay to follow. There will be no tour next summer. The movies are 9 months to longer from being seen and I see a definite downward trend in the number of avid Kat fans visiting and posting on various sites. I'm concerned we won't get them back a year from now when there is new music and news to discuss. People will find new directions in their lives and focus on more pressing matters and may not come back next fall. Sure if it a successful CD we will see new fans but with Kat's musical career being put on hold, the growth of her fan base will suffer and so will our beloved fan sites.

I just wanna say that although I haven't written anything lately, I never miss a day of reading all about Kat and I trust that there are many others like me. I do wish we'd see more of her but it looks like she's working and living her dream. I'm really hoping that David Foster takes her under his wing again. I'm also wondering if maybe they don't want Kat sharing everything with us. She's so forthright that it seems impossible for her to keep quiet about anything. I wonder about the other movie she said she was going to be filming. Maybe an example of teling too much too soon.

Oh I know that there are many many lurkers and there always will be a strong fan base, but growth of that fan base will be extremely difficult without airplay. Plus the normal attrition of fans will happen with not many to replace them. I think that most of us fell in love with Kat the singer not Kat the actress, at least not yet. And what will grow the legions of fans is hearing her music and this decision, though predictable, will not allow for that to happen and I do wonder what will become of her active fans in the next year. I DO plan on being here and many many of us will certainly be there as well but I wonder in what numbers.

You can count me as being here but not much unless we can some get exciting news. I agree with Bill I too fell in love with Kat the singer. Without any music news until possiblly a full year or so it will be difficult to sustain my enthusiasm. Hoping Kat will grace us with video blog soon and calm some of our concerns about her continued interest in a singing career.

I know and believe me, I'm very sad about this also. I long to see Katharine perform and I want nothing more than for her to be successful. My dream is that someday I'll be hearing Kat on my clock radio instead of Daughtry and Elliott. Next thing I know I'll probably be hearing Jordan too. I think that someday when Katharine becomes very, very famous (and I have no doubt that she will) they'll be dragging out all of the songs on the album that haven't been heard. And I still love My Destiny. I listen to it every day and I love it.

You have excellent taste!!!

I thought I was the only one in the world that loves that song.  Highly under-rated IMHO.

What album are you talking about?  If you are talking about Kat's current CD, your optimism doesn't jive with the facts.  Don't get me wrong it was a good first CD, but by the time you factor in production costs, promotion and the units that actually have sold, the record company will see little or no profit from the CD.

If you are talking about a project in Kat's future.... Who knows what type of album that may be and who will be the producer or producers?   The musical climate changes so quickly these days, who knows what will be hot by the time she chooses to release another CD.

I agree with you, it seems that David Foster would be a perfect fit for Kat ... that is if he is available when she is ready to record again....Units alone do not measure the quality of a performer.  Katharine is great even if she only sold 2 copies of a particular CD.  Many greats haven't had the huge numbers that some so-called mediocre performers have had.

I personally am of the same mind that we all congregated here to see and hear of Katharine McPhee the singer. Compared to one year ago, there are far fewer numbers posting on the boards and it will certainly be sad if Kat doesn't continue with her music career. I also expect to be here for the long haul and support her in whatever genre she decides is best, but the long absence of direct communication from Kat herself has disillusioned many of her fans.

That's why some people wish she would just put out an album of the stuff she seems to do so well, not necessarily standards, but maybe covers of more modern stuff like Mary Jane and Me, plus stuff that has the same feel as that. And no matter how much some people huff about "cheesy ballads," the fact remains that she does them superbly. She doesn't have to do a whole album of any one thing (not that she did the first time either) but there's a whole range of stuff between cheese and sleaze where she could really shine.

Interesting tidbit...I just played the last 3 songs BOA, EIG and Neglected for a friend of my sons (female, 18) who had only heard Over It. She LOVED those songs and asked to borrow my cd to listen. Well, I happened to have an extra cd and gave it to her. Funny, she wasn't a fan before I played those for her so I was really excited to see her positive response. Too bad that none of those songs will hit the airwaves because I think they really resonate with girls who have been "done wrong".

Everyday lately you hear about Britney, Lindsay, and the other embarassments that the music industry and movie world have created.On the other hand, you hear nothing about Katharine McPhee. WHY? Because Katharine McPhee is the best kept secret in the entertainment world today. She is busy with her movie roles and her managemnet is bringing her along very nicely. I have no doubt that we will hear some great news of her in the near future with her singing as well as acting, and then the whole wide world will know what we katfans know.MCPHEEVER WILL RULE!!!

That's why I keep thinking (hoping?) that her music is kind of sneaking along beneath the radar out there, winning over a few more people at a time. Maybe eventually something will find its way onto a soundtrack. Wasn't there a rumor that Ordinary World was originally written for that purpose? Maybe all the kids in that dance class on YouTube who were dancing to Open Toes, or whatever it was, will remember that, and someday they'll decide to buy the CD, or the next one, or whatever. I don't know how it will happen, but there seem to be a few hundred people every week still buying on the strength of something or other, heaven knows it's not airplay, so something is happening. In the meanwhile she's making friends in the industry who will make sure she keeps having opportunities to be seen and heard, and it will all add up.

Remember Kat does not OWE us a thing.  She can pick and choose the projects she is interested in.  Sure, it would be nice to know, but if you think you are owed an explanation, your wait may be long.....

Of course she doesn't OWE us anything, but the fact is that there for a time, she was making a big effort to stay in communication with fans. She was doing videoblogs from everywhere, doing on-line live chats, etc. and that was really nice. Of course that started right before the album came out, and there was a good reason to keep everybody interested and waiting breathlessly for the next bit of news, and voting and buying. Hmm, didn't that sound cynical... But that influences people. We were all telling everyone how much fun it is to fan for someone who actually returns some of the attention, that getting her start on Idol gave her a better appreciation for fans because we actually voted her to the top, etc. KATHARINE, COME BACK!! WE MISS YOU!! There, I feel better now.

Time changes everything..Kat is now emeshed in personal appearances and learning the ropes in her latest endeavor:filmdom!!How can we expect someone like Katharine,with many career options ahead,to even know,at this point what her path will be??I'm sure Kat's future journey would be contingent on what offers are out there and which ones she and her management opt to accept!What is clear is that Kat has absolutely NO obligation to explain anything to us.Sure,it was wonderful to have those video blogs,but that was then and this is now.Just because she was able to give us those perks in the past DOES NOT mean we're somehow entitled!Sure, we've helped her launch her career in her fledgling days,but now.....we have to let her fly!!!!

No news = definite bad news for Kat fans and the Kat fan sites. But I'm curious whether it's actually that bad for Kat's career - whatever it may be. I remember reading a PR person on TWoP (dodges tomatoes) claiming that having Kat blanketing the magazines with photoshoots was poor strategy, basically saying less is more. Would it be better for her prospects if she went into hibernation from the press for awhile, and then came back in a big way?

I didn't necessarily mean an explanation from Kat herself (although It would be nice) I was more thinking on the lines of a legitimate source...like someone from Kat's label. You know just something to put our minds at ease. Keerfir1 I wouldn't quite say that a lot has passed since her last video blog, only 2 months and in the long run, that's not that much so saying THAT was then and this is NOW is an understatement. But you do make a good point because we don't know what Kat's career path is going to be since she does have so many options and we know she is filled with mystery so she could surprise us with just about anything. I realize she is living her dream and spreading her wings and learning the ropes and that is required in that industry, I do realize that but YOU do realize that in order for her to keep soaring, she does need us. Your making it sound like she doesn't and I'm sorry to twist your words around but that's the impression I'm getting.

Think you're missing the point,Matt!You are talking about "the good old days" and I'm saying that time changes circumstances and things are never the same again!! Kat may no longer wish to share details of her everyday personal life with others beyond her inner circle!Maybe that is why she has neither confirmed or denied an engagement! Even her own mother implied that she visits here to discover information about Kat and to look at her pictures!I didn't mean to imply that Kat does not need her fans...of course she does.What I meant was we have to let her lead her private life and just be grateful if and when she wishes to share...
