I was digging through some things and I came across this, I don't really remember the post but it was really nice to read it again for some strange reason.. it's probably not on the AI boards anymore, because, well, they tend to delete everything a Kat Packer could write over there.
This was posted prior to Kat's debut at her first idol concert.
" My expectations are extremely low after 6 months, but if it makes even a slight difference it will be worth it. I don't have the hate or resentment or jealousy or whatever is involved in the motive behind bashing katharine so much or anyone else...I have eyes, a heart and a little compassion and these are the questions and facts that are clear to me.
KAT'S ABSENCE ON TOUR..facts:
1-each concert has a sign and one of the Idols, usually Chris, tells you she is not there due to bronchitis and laryngitis...set up by Idol tour
2-The media(entertainment news programs, local and world news stations, magazine articles, and newspapers) have also said this.
3-Katharine herself has written to her web site confirming this and has updated her information with each doctor report.
4-The latest update says she is well enough to speak and sing as of July 26th. She is scheduled to appear on "The View" and since there is no scheduled tour date that evening she will be present on July 27th performing with the other Idols.
5- She did a photo shoot, yes and may have done some budgeting or planning for this play she is listed as co producer for...or did she? We don't even know what she actually did for this maybe her name is there to promote financial contributions or she and her boyfriend created this whole play. It only involves two cast members...it's not a musical there in only one set, it all takes place in a jail from what I read, it doesn't sound like a big budget play to anyone who has ever been to one. How do you know that Katharine footed the bill or that her father did?? She's making her own money and what about her boyfriend or the actors in the play or outside donors?? Why do you jump to criticize her right away?
****This will take her leave due to illness to 21 DAYS. antibiotics are usually given for 10-14 days. Laryngitis has no set recovery period, but most people do not sing for a living so the recovery shouldn't be rushed. WE KNOW for a fact that she was in treatment before Idol for an eating disorder that can not be good for a person's vocal chords or overall physical health. I can't understand how it is so difficult to comprehend that her laryngitis may have been more severe do to her past health issue and then adding the stress of usage during 5 months of Idol can you see how it's very possible situation was more difficult to recover from??
EATING DISORDER-
1-Every contestant on this show had a story except for Katharine. But now we know for a fact that she had the most sought after "media story" in her back pocket all along. Someone that thirsts for drama would have pulled out that card at any point during the competition, but SHE DIDN'T. And yet the board is always filled with words like "drama", "narcissist", "attention-getter" "me, me, me" etc. So where's the drama?
2-I find it interesting that no one brought up the fact that Katharine took off and canceled interviews after this came out in the news. When you truly want to discuss something this personal, you seek out every venue to discuss it, especially if you are a narcissist and drama queen. So if that's the case, why did she cancel those interviews? Did it ever occur to anyone that this is something she may not have wanted to discuss?? How many interviews did she show discomfort when asked about her boyfriend or Scientology?? Aren't those less invasive than telling the world you've been throwing up for 5 years of your life and had to go to a clinic to stop?
ATTITUDE?
1.As far as I can see Katharine is like a 45 year old woman in the body of a 22 year old. She tells you honestly what she feels and thinks about something. I'm a 44 year old woman it took me this long in life to actually be able to speak up for myself. Why is it that we as women let that theory of being assertive or confident continue as a negative thing and let men carry all the positive labels?
2. I studied music my whole life, I watch her take a breath, put her shoulders back and stand tall and the look come over her face that is TAUGHT to all musicians before they begin a performance. You are SUPPOSED to get into character when you step on stage this is what classically trained musicians do. It's not arrogance it's training. If you want to see what I mean go find the tape of them singing with Dionne Warwick, you can see her do every one of those things very clearly before she sings next to her.
3. Her smile when Elliot left??? Yup, she smiled but AFTER Ryan announced to the audience that she and Taylor were in the finals.You saw all the pictures of her hugging Elliot and rubbing his back and saying something to him. And looking back with what you know now, remember her audition, she cried right? Look again, and now add the eating disorder, those tears take on a new meaning...don't you think that smile during the Top 3 has a new meaning too? And her Mom's joy??
4-She said " I didn't pick it " to the judges, WELL SHE DIDN'T. And as a musician Randy's remark was nothing short of retarded. How can you critique her performance using song choice as a reason for negativity when the person was assigned the song. And did she comment at first...NO, she said thank you and the camera went to Paula who actually stammered and fumbled around saying ...."oh how can I put this"...it was embarrassing to watch and awkward to the point a teen voice shouted out filling Paula's silence..."She's incredible"...she responded with " You guys have been pretty tough on me the last couple weeks"...no nasty tone... nothing...yet the bashing for that was more intense than Kevin's remark to Simon?? why???
5-Kellie Pickler??? Not so smart to say a name. I can never say that was ok to say aloud, it won't ever be ok. But that's all I can say, I certainly can't hang her for it. She didn't' call Kellie a BLEEP, a drama queen, a pregnant buffalo, a spoiled brat or anything of that nature?? And yet those who are hanging her for this are using these words to describe her all the time. This interview that mentioned Kellie was the fourth time I heard Katharine upset about the show focusing on something other than music, and if you LOVE music that's not ok in your mind or heart. I'm a musician does this bother me about the show??? Hell yeah!!
6- how much attitude or confidence does one really have to develop an eating disorder? How much drama did this invite? How is Kat supposed to go out to eat or go to the ladies room without every eye in the place watching?
There's a lot more, but her dress button, or cleavage is too ridiculous to even comment on. What I see is a young woman trying really hard to follow her dreams, after knocking on dozens and dozens of doors, this one said Yes. She pulled all the things out in her life that she wanted to make right and did that and came on the show and tried just as hard every week to reach that dream, as everyone else did, but a lot of you just won't let her to do that...and I don't know why. Right now all of you are getting the opportunity to see your favorite Idol in person at the concert...the Kat fans aren't able to do that, but they are trying very hard to be supportive and patient...is it so hard for you to celebrate your excitement without making our situation even more unenjoyable?? "

That pretty much covers all the drama from last year. I forgot about the controversy over the play she co-produced with Nick & company. There's was so much craziness back then...I remember the night we got those videos from DC...I never would have anticipated feeling the way I did about finally seeing her back out there. Just all the garbage we all put up with from everywhere for that time she was sick...I was actually worried the crowds on the Idol Tour weren't going to treat her well. Especially since she got things going in the South.
And then she breaks her foot about a week into it. I think she proved a lot of people wrong by staying on the tour and performing with the boot on her foot. I bet a lot of people thought she'd go home.
The Kellie story. Well, Katharine said something in one of her hundreds of post-Idol interviews about how there was a point when she was "wondering what she had to do for votes" (I think that was post Top 10, bottom two night) and then later she said "all of us were like, it's time for her (Kellie) to go." Sorry if I'm not totally accurate on that. I think I've got the gist of it right.

I'm really shocked and happy to say that this has been the most pleasant thread that has involved Kat that I've ever seen on the AI boards. The discussions are actually more or less civil
Anyway, I came here to show you all one post that a Taylor fan made on that thread...
The reason Kat was hated. There are many. Many Chris fans hated her because she outlasted Chris. I agree with the person that said the good looking people get slammed. I think it is because if they aren't PERFECT singers they get ripped constantly. But in Kat's case, it was a matter of the male contestant fans ganging up on her. After Chris went home, Elliot went home. Then the Chris and Elliot fans wouldn't shut up about her. I mean it was CONSTANT. They would say they wanted Taylor to win because at least then one of the guys would win and keep the crown from Kat. Awful, awful posts were put up. I honestly didn't get it at ALL. Even the people in this thread that are talking about 'I just never think about her at all' are still dripping with hate. If not, why come in to a message ABOUT kat, and post how little you think about her? There is no point, unless you still harbor resentment. As for her having money, this argument used to make me laugh. I think what people don't realize is just because your PARENTS have money doesn't mean you do. I mean sure, she probably had nicer clothes growing up, and a nicer house, but the truth is many of the richest parents I knew of my friends growing up were the BIGGEST tight wads. How else could they amass such a fortune? Plus, why would that have anything to do with her singing. It doesn't. Yet it was posted about OVER and OVER. And I love the comments about her revealing clothing. She never wore any! She had one FLOOR LENGTH dress that had a wardrobe malfunction on stage, and that was it. People just remember what they want to remember. Kat rolling her eyes must be because she thought she was better, instead of being embarrassed by her performance or being put up to 'judge' because hey, she might be a bit shy. By the way, I myself was a Taylor fan, but I thought Kat deserved the final 2. She was a great singer. Elliot could have had final two, but I think he fell apart a little bit in the end. I personally never thought Chris would win and was surprised he made it to fourth place. I know many won't like to read what I wrote, but it got so bad I actually wrote a little song about the problem. Ok I rewrote "Blame Canada" to "Blame Katharine" but the post didn't last, so I put it in my blog. It was absolutely ridiculous, the hatred of Katharine. If I were one of those fans I'd be ashamed of myself and what I did. Pathetic.
