I know that Mother's Day isn't until Sunday, but alot of us won't be home and i want you to post here something of what your mother means to you, anything, i am posting here and sharing a poem i wrote about my mom about 2 years ago and gave as a gift to my sister's for a mother's day that year. mom is 88 yrs. old diagnosed with Alzeheimers 5 years ago. she's lived with me for 7 yrs. so i just thought i would take this time to share.


      
        "Looking For My Mom, Have You Seen Her?"

At times I watch her there,
As she sits in her chair.
She looks all around,
Barely making a sound.
What could she be thinking that makes her look so sad,
Is it that she can't remember much, that makes her feel so bad.
Not too long ago She used to love to plant flowers,
Look at her now she just sits there for hours.
She gave birth to eight children you know and she did the best she could,
But she always thought differently, but if you knew mom, she would.
I'll always remember the pearls, the earrings, the dresses she wore every day,
What a beautiful woman mom was, this I'm proud to say.
She often speaks of her father, she misses him so much,
I'm sure if she could go back in time, just to feel his touch.
She also speaks of her mother with true love and much sorrow,
Wishing to have her back for just one more "tomorrow."
She lost one son recently, he was her first son she gave birth to,
He was one son very dear to her, I'm sure she wonders if he knew.
Today I'm the mom and she's the child, a switch that shouldn't be,
But in my heart, she'll always be the mom she was to me.
How she wishes she could do more and she feels so terribly blue,
But I tell her "mom, it's our turn now to do the things for you."
I say prayers with mom, wish her peace and to have happy dreams,
This makes her feel safer and better, or so it seems.
Now there are seven of us left, we show her love and care,
Hope she knows in her heart, that we are always there.
She's slipping away slowly, as the days go by,
I often ask myself that famous question, why?oh why?oh why?
This terrible evil thing called Alzeheimers, where did it come from?
Please, can someone help me, have you seen my mom?

thanks to all for your kind words and i  also thank you on my mother's behalf . i hope everyone's Mother's Day was a great one.

That was a beautiful poem, it's always feels a little better to let your emotions flow through poetry.
Don't forget, we're all human.. give what you want to receive... a smile, a thought, a tear, joy, pain, whatever it be.. you give it, you receive it.
