Seeing Katharine's first audition performance of "God Bless the Child" again reminded me once again why I instantly became a fan of her, and have voted for her more than any other American Idol contestant in the 4 seasons that I've seen the show (and she is largely the reason why I saw this season).  She didn't have the glamorous looks she has now, she just looked natural and very down to earth yet floored me in terms of her voice and talent.  There are currently people that complain that Katharine doesn't connect in her singing, but I believe that she connected better in that performance than just about anyone in American Idol seasons 2 - 5 except Bo and Fantasia in their best performances!

I thought so too, but now I'm not so sure. Simon's critique was "parts of that were excellent..." which implies he felt other parts weren't excellent too. She's safer performing a song where she recieved universal accolades, such as "Come Rain or Come Shine" and "Someone to Watch Over Me".

Those two are really really good! but looking back all her performances I realised that when she sang "Somenone To Watch Over Me" and "Until You Come Back To Me" she recieved the best compliments! Personally, I would like her to sing "Someone.." and "Come Rain Or Come Shine", she was fantastic!

Up until now, I've been all about GBTC or SIFFU, but listening back, I'm also thinking Come Rain or Come Shine might be a good one for Kat to pull back out, too. Gosh, I know this is so cliche but all of her songs are so good, it's hard to pick which one she should reprise for the finale.
