I watched that Extra video of Kat again today where she talks to the contestents. I didn't notice this yesterday, but I saw the look on Jordin's face when Katharine walked into the room. She had that look on her face like Oh my gosh. I can't believe it's really her. Then later on in the interview after she told the contestents what Simon said to her after Chris Daughtry got voted off, I paused the video. I saw some of Jordin's face, and it looked like she had been crying (happy tears of course. lol) because her cheeks looked tear-stained. I wonder if she voted for Kat last year.

I don't know if she has the McPheever but she is my favorite from this years cast. I'm hoping she will make the Finale but the Dial Idol support doesn't indicate that it is in the cards for her, unfortunately. I'm hoping though.

Hey i didnt get to see the clip because my computer is ridiculous..but i was just wondering if anybody knows what Simon said to Kat after Chris got kicked off...im kinda curious and im sure it was said in the interview but i coudlt see itt..lol so if anybody can type it out i'd sooo appreciate it!! thanks so much!

Jordin is the closest to Kat in terms of a complete package pop Idol. She may not win AI6, but I expect to see her at the Kodak in May.

I actually agree with both of you but to make a truly comparable COMPARISON dig up your Ed McMahon's Next Big Star caps because that was were Katharine was at when she was seventeen years old.   I hope the vote is there to keep Jordin in but I don't think she has anywhere close to the base (voting base) that Kat had or enough to stay much beyond TOP5, if that.  To do it she is going to have pull the lions share of the ousted contestants votes.

Honestly, I think the American Idol voters dropped the ball in getting rid of Stephanie Edwards without tour recognition.  This TOP 10 touring group is much, much weaker without her in the mix, IMO.

Jordin def has McPheever. She even wore the Hope necklace (that benefits Kat's outreach) the day she met Katharine. You see her wearing it in the Idol Extra clip.
Jordin may surprise you all. We recognized Kat's talent during her audition, just as we did with Jordin. Be pretty amazing if she made it to the finals like Kat.

Actually my opinion isn't really different. I agree that Jordin is worlds away from Kat. But IMO she is closer to the marketable 'complete package' concept than any of the others this year. If Jordin were in the competition last year, I would have to place her third behind Kat and Chris.

Jordin Sparks I agree does have the package of an American Idol and a very likable personality but I wouldn't quite say that she has McPheever. I like Jordin but she's not good enough to get my vote. I would definitely place her in the finals, absolutely. She does most certainly deliver in her performances with her vocal ability and range and uses emotions to put more feeling into the song but compared to Kat, I'm sorry I think she's ways off from the Greatness of Katharine. She may be the favorite and one of the best in the competition but she's no Katharine. There's not going to be another Katharine, not going to be another Season like Season 5. This year's season doesn't even compare to last years. Even if Jordin does make it to the Finale, she won't win. Everyone knows that Sanjaya could possibly take the crown.
Let me tell you though, if Sanjaya wins, then American Idol as we know it is over.

Jordin seems to be a really sweet girl, so there's no doubt that she easily appreciates anyone who takes time to visit them backstage. That being said, I really like Jordin. She's my favorite this season, and I'm glad that she likes Kat! I agree with some of you about comparisons...Kat is either way beyond or totally different from any other Idol contestant.

DialIdol support didn't suggest it was in the cards for Katharine either if you want to go back and look at the archives from last year.  She kept scraping by each week if they are accurate and they had her last in the week Lisa went home and Kat was in the bottom two.

Oh...and I have noticed that Jordin talks a lot like Katharine.  At least when Katharine's in her excited, not thinking clearly state.

I totally agree about Stephanie.  While I didn't vote for her, I thought she was and is a great talent and the tour will be weaker with her absence.

And I DO like Jordin.  In a couple of years she could be awesome.  Not quite yet, IMO.  But, she is a great addition to the show this year and is worlds above some of the others that will probably go farther than her in the competition.

This may be a "singing" contest,but,as we know, it's certainly not a fair and accurate one!!I'm also seeing young Jordin as a standout!!She can sing with heart;is charming, attractive;has command of the stage and like Kat...has that total package IT factor...great potential!!Haley may be the Kat wannabe,but Jordin has it without trying to be anyone else!!Let me add that no one can hold a candle to Kat and her exceptional vintage AI perfs!!

The way they have it set up the "margin of error" encompasses two-thirds of the field.  Jordin's support has actually eroded a bit over the last month.   I really don't care if she "scrapes by" or is a high flier, so long as she is in the mix.  I do know if Mr. Sanjaya is waving bye-bye to her from a "safe chair" I'm not going to be a happy camper.  The larger the field the less accurate Dial Idol's system has been.  And as you pointed out Katharine was at the bottom on her "The Voice Within" performance and survived.

Even Ryan Seacrest predicts Jordin to win it this year according to an interview in People Magazine. I stand by my choice in the 'AI6' pool for her to win it all. That, not because she's necessarily the great vocalist (though the purity of her voice is occasionally close to that of Melinda AND Kat's)--but because she has the best marketability. She's young enough to capture the teen pop market (Melinda and Blake are older and would be in other categories), is probably the most diverse of anybody on there (she's proved she can sing almost any genre comfortably) and arguably has the best personality without being so humble as to be self-deprecating.

I have no doubt that Jordin is influenced highly by Kat. Ditto with Haley as we've already discussed here recently. And as Melissa said in this thread, Jordin was wearing the Hope necklace when Kat came to the studios to meet the Top 12 several weeks ago. Jordin also obviously had knowledge that necklace was named after Kat and was more than obviously a tribute to her. I didn't notice the tears when Kat walked in the room, though I believe it.

Even Kat herself probably doesn't realize the impact she's made on future female contestants on 'AI.' We all guessed right there'd be females aspiring to be like Kat on this season's show. We already see it in Jordin, Haley, and several in auditions who didn't make the cut. And there'll be many more to come in ensuing seasons. The best aspect to that are more "normal"-looking girls who don't look like toothpicks. I really appreciate seeing normal weights coming back again to female performers on 'AI'...and things like the recent Miss USA Pageant. Kat's impact has been huge in myriad ways we'll be noticing for years...

Now, if Jordin wins--and Kat's on the finale...we'll likely hear them sing together in May. Unless it's Taylor...and forces Jordin to do a wild Taylor dance...
