The finished poetry book was sent to Peisha last Thursday in time for Kat's birthday, but I hadn't heard back until today. I just received the following email from Peisha, and I want to share it with everyone, especially the contributors. Unfortunately she didn't take any photos of Kat's reaction.

Dear BILL,   the poetry  book is  beyond  belief !  
What  a beautiful present  evryone   gave to kat , Can
you please  tell everyone  who contributed , that  she
 was  really  overcome  with  gratitude and  it  will
be  a  treasure   for    years to come.   Just  so
beautiful; . many  thanks    for   everything you
have  and  ARE  doing  for   my daughter,    best to
you always , Peisha

Congrats to all who participated, and thank you from all of us who didn't, because you represented all of us as well.  You guys really put a lot of thought and hard work into this, probably much more than most of us even know.  I'm sure it's obvious to Katharine that this isn't just something that was thrown together, but rather a meticulous labour of love.  Again, congratulations to everyone on a Great Success!!

Thanks for posting that Bill.

I must say that I was extremely impressed with the level of talent that the KMF poets brought forth for this project.

One of these days, Katharine will pull this book down from the shelf, sit down and let herself be carried back to that time when it all started... when her fans took her under wing and expressed their feelings in some of the most touching poetry ever written by a fanbase. I truly hope that we have given her even a fraction of the inspiration she has provided us.

It's an honor to be  a KatPhan.
Katharine's summer is full of hope, full of potential, and promises to provide many bouquets to grace the home that I call my heart.

^That's what I loved about this project more than anything, Don. It let the fanbase express themselves in profound ways they probably couldn't face to face with Kat or in a normal letter or message board post. Then again, saying "Ummmm...uhhhh...umma..uhhh..um..." to Kat backstage after a concert has its own merits of appreciation.

Thanks, Bill, for forwarding the note from Peisha about the book. I was hoping we'd be hearing something soon--and I'm sure Kat will be putting that in a special place to peruse when she has more time. It's a book to truly savor...and she has a long lifetime to do just that. Thankfully, books don't run away or become irrelevant in fifty years. Even if she had to wait for years to finally absorb all the thoughts in there, that's fine with me. In fact, I think a lot of those poems will have more resonance in the future when Kat reflects more on her life when in middle or old age.

Well, that one (of two) poems I contributed made the rounds a lot in past months. I was never sure if this project was going forth--and Peisha already read that long one I wrote last August right before Kat's Portland, OR show. I don't know if she showed the poem to Kat then, but it's unlikely she saw it. I hope she waited to read it in this book, because it puts it all in better context. Sometimes the profound thoughts of others helps complement your own work. In this case, that couldn't be more true.

More thanks go to Don above, Trina and all involved in the creative process behind this book. I can't wait to buy a copy to see it in reality. Let us know, Bill, when copies are available to buy. Price is no object in the meaning behind this project.

Since it's been made known here that KatFan49 and Gregoriancant are contributing authors to this book and because I'm also a huge fan of their work, I'd like to know when we noncontributors can order a copy of this book too !

After more than 8 months in the making, the KMF poetry book is finally being bound in hardcover for presentation to Kat, and, if all goes well, it will be ready for her birthday on March 25th.

The book is gorgeous and is sure to be cherished by Kat and kept on her bookshelf to show her children and grandchildren one day. It contains 53 pages of original poetry and song dedications by 30 KMF members, and 36 pieces of original artwork by KMF members Trina and Don (Katfan49). Many of the authors have taken the opportunity to sign their poems and add personal notes to Kat, giving the book an added sense of personal warmth.

Hopefully Peisha (or Nick)  can take some photos of Kat's reactions for me to post.

For now, I want to share with you all the beautiful cover art designed by Don and including one of Trina's wonderful drawings as a centerpiece.

Wow, that's nice of Peisha to send you an email, Bill. Hopefully, we can see some photos of it being read by Kat, herself. Greg, now we're sure Kat would never miss seeing our names and reading our work in there.  Thanks again for including my 2 poems in the book. I appreciate it very much. I just wanted to let everyone know that in addition to myself, Trina, Bill and the KatPoets, none of this would have been possible without the incredible dedication and hard work of Gary (KatKrazy).

He contributed untold hours working with various contributors, using his talents to help them polish their poems so that their truest heartfelt thoughts were expressed to the maximum in their words. In addition, he was responsible for the editing and compiling of the 53 poems contained in this work of love. His proofreading skills were invaluable, and I thank him for for his tireless, eagle-eyed efforts.

Don--thanks much for your kind tribute. The feeling of pleasure and appreciation is mutual. Bill, Trina, you and I made a great team, if I do say so myself.

More importantly, I think all the contributors and the other Katphans who get the book will be blown away by the collected poetry and the artwork (the latter material coming from Trina and Don). It is really a very professional effort. Sure, our poetry is homegrown and somewhat sentimental, but it represents deep and authentic feelings on the part of many whom Kat has touched. So much sweeteness (and smarts) is contained in these 51 poems and dedications; I hope everyone here will have a chance to take it all in. I'm sure that those who didn't, or felt they couldn't, write poetry will find their own experiences well-represented among the pages of
