Do you honestly believe Elliott Yamin's debut CD will outsell Katharine's? I highly doubt it because I truly believe Katharine always had a stronger following that Elliott! Hopefully, with an upcoming "American Idol" appearance, Kat will have a well-deserved boost in her sales!

I hope not!!! But I'm afraid it may. Elliot's CD is consistent with how people know him in AI. So there will be few confused or alienated fans who voted for him. Kat's CD is a bit radically different from her AI performances. She may have alienated those who liked her OTR performance and/or her performances with Bocelli.

If KISS FM in L.A. continues to spin it regularly then it could well. The USA Today reviewed it today and gave it two stars out of four. But they did say it was consistent with who he was on Idol which should help old out of touch fans re-embrace him. If he can pull off a couple of hit songs anything is possible, that is the reality of the music biz.

I think he could initially yes, meaning he might pass her in the first few months. But I think in the long run that Kat's album will outsell Elliott's.

Elliott has Chris and Taylor's fanbase backing him and will buy his CD. Sad to say Kat's fanbase is not large and does not have backing from other fanbases. Just don't understand the negativity towards Kat. So Kat has to gain new fans outside of the AI viewers.

I cannot fathom how all the other "Idols" (Chris, Taylor, Kellie and now possibly Elliott) can achieve a gold or platinum status on their CDs and Katharine's sales are struggling? Do you think this would have happened if Kat stuck closer to the genre of music she performed on "AI"?

His AI fans will buy his album in the first week of it's release, but Elliott needs people outside of his AI fan base buying his album, as that's what will give the album legs. If it's a good CD, and he receives proper promotion, his sales should stay consistent. So if Elliott outsells Kat in the long run, it would not mean he had a bigger following on AI...he may be gaining NEW fans, though. Will Elliott outsell Kat in the long run? Anything is possible. Will Elliott's first week sales be higher than Kat's? Hells no!

Chris', Taylor's, and Kellie's albums have been out for a while, especially Kellie's...add to that holiday sales and you get a certified gold album.

Elliott's album will definitely NOT outsell Katharine's. He isn't as good as Kat and he doesn't even have a huge fanbase...at least I don't think he does.

I just bought Elliott's CD and I honestly don't think it is very good. I like his single and that's about it. HOWEVER, Elliott's song is in regular rotation on KIIS in Los Angeles, so that will definitely help his sales. I'm not sure that he will outsell Kat tho...

I just wanted to say that I love your avatar and how did you do that? I think Elliot's album will outsell Katharine's, but we have to remember that Katharine is still a star even if her album drops off the charts. This is Katharine's long time career plus acting, so she's going to be around for a long time. So will Elliot, Chris and maybe Kellie.

I didn't make it...it's and add on Allaccess.com, here http://www.allaccess.com/

Only time will tell, I guess. When the second single is released, her sales will go no where but up.

It was probably smart of Elliott to be out of the limelight for a while, because the curiosity factor of where he was and what he was doing obviously helped get his album up high on the pre-sales charts on Amazon. That and desire to see those new veneers of his...that he doesn't even show on the album cover. It's really strange how the trajectories work for different artists, but if you had a flow chart, Kat's line would be the slow starter, Taylor's the fast descent and fall, and Elliott is somewhere in the middle. There's a lot to study within all that and how all the elements of a person's career bring on different results.

With Taylor, he seemed to enjoy the ride of the brief chain reaction that happened during 'AI' and his popularity. I remember some people analyzing all that on the 'AI' board last year and how his popularity was more about everybody jumping on a bandwagon to listen to what their friends were listening to. Though that's the simple process of Memetics (a subject you study in marketing) that works in the entire music industry.

In a way, we should be glad that Kat's a slow starter, because it shows that the process of people buying her album "just because" everybody else has it doesn't exist in her career trajectory. That's good, because people who buy her album are buying it because they like her for what she does. You'd be surprised how many CD's are sold based merely on what that person's friend bought to look like they're up on what's hip. That's how the teen market operates anyway.

I sort of see Elliott going the same route as Kat--even though it'll be a more limited market due to him having older fans over teens. At least Kat's tapping into both the teen market AND the older markets. She's really at the best advantage for the long run...even over Daughtry. Do you really see Chris still being a #1 artist and being a possible legend 20-30 years from now?

A slow climb might actually be the new process of what makes a legendary singer.

P.S.--I like some of Elliott's singles (I heard on his MySpace), though the entire album isn't perfect.

i honestly DONT think he'll outsell Kat, or Kellie, or Taylor, or Chris... maybe Bucky, i dont know... i think his fanbase is half-die-hard, half-feeling-sorry-for-him fans, and the latter may not be all too giddy to go out and buy his album. im not bashing, this is just my opinion, coz i liked him actually, he's like my 2nd favorite AI5 male contestant (Chris is 1st), but i didnt get hooked with any of his songs out there right now, it's really boring, and very boy-bandish (the dying BSB era, not the hot new NSync joint), which im afraid, im over with (stops and sings, "Im over it...")...

Elliott Yamin is one awesome vocal talent and if the songs he chose for the album are complimentary to his voice, the possibilities are endless. I can't in good conscience comment regarding album sales because so far I haven't heard anything from his album.

i think he released multiple singles at one time. I coulda sworn i saw 2 different ones at one time. Ah well, they aren't flying up the charts or anything. But, he IS doing better than Taylor. But not Kat or Chris.

well it's only the first week, and i was kind of talking about some people saying Elliott will outsell Kat in the 1st week, and he didnt, Taylor did like about 300,000 in his 1st week, but quickly diminished in the following weeks... Elliott, though still VERY early to tell might have a same problem, unless his songs are really outstanding amongst the other new songs in the RnB genre...

I don't think he will outsell Kat. But I think, like Kat, he can sustain sales and won't quickly drop off the charts (like Taylor). He has a nice album.. yes, I have downloaded it.. no I didn't buy the record (yet but I am not sure if I will). Most of his songs are really nice, I like it more that Daughtry's really. Daughtry is like any other band, think Calling, Nickelback. Elliot (like Kat) is different and unique.

So what I am really saying Elliott's material is good and he will do well but not as good as Kat. Kat is on the way to superstardom.. or she maybe already there. I just hope that her peeps will do promotion and decisions properly for her career. Hopefully her stint on AI6 will bring her to #1, let's cross our fingers. And she will do amazing promotion for the next single.

And more performances like Yahoo's Pepsi Smash and AOL Sessions.

I think after two weeks, we can now safely say that Elliott's CD will not outsell Katharine's CD.  I have to admit I had a little worry in the back of my mind about it.  But Elliott is about even with Kellie after two weeks now (behind Kat by about 47,000).

So I think that clears up any thought people may have had that Kat wrongfully beat out Elliott to make the finale.
