In a week in which CD sales slowed down once again, Daughtry sold nearly 90,000 copies, a seven percent increase from the previous week, and topped the Billboard 200 for the second time in the CD’s 15-week history. In addition, it was #6 on the Internet Album sales chart, #3 on the Digital chart, and #1 on Top Rock Albums. Daughtry has sold nearly 1.8 million copies and has been certified double-platinum status.
There was one new Idol-related CD on the charts this week. Beth Moore Presents: Songs of Deliverance which features a track by Mandisa (“My Redeemer”), debuted at #143 on the Billboard 200 and #7 on the Compilation chart. The CD was released in January, but only showed up on the charts this week when word of Mandisa’s inclusion started to get around. Not that’s the power of Idol!
TobyMac’s Portable Sounds featuring Mandisa (“Lose My Soul” with Kirk Franklin) was at #38 on the Billboard 200, and also charted on the Digital Album Sales chart (#16) and the Rock chart (#10).
Carrie Underwood’s Some Hearts jumped up three spots to #15 on the Billboard 200, and was #2 on the Country listing. In 68 weeks, the album has sold just under five million copies.
Here’s how the rest of the Idol-related albums charted this week:
This Week’s Idols’ Singles’ Charts
Hooray for Elliott Yamin, whose first single, “Movin’ On,” has made its debut on the Hot 100 at #61 and the Pop 100 at #49. The single also charted on the Hot Digital Tracks chart (#27) and the Hot Digital Songs list (#37). Seeing Elliott’s name on all these charts really made me smile, and I know his fans are thrilled! Elliott’s album drops March 20, and you can order it by clicking here
Fantasia has a new single out as well. “When I See You” was the Hot Shot Debut on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Singles chart (#57)
Chris Daughtry’s “Home” was #83 on the Hot 100, #65 on the Pop 100, and #62 on the Hot Digital Songs chart. Ruben Studdard’s latest single, “Make Ya Feel Beautiful,” is moving up the charts. It was #62 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Singles, #62 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart, and #18 on the R&B Adult airplay list. Taylor Hicks’ “Just to Feel That Way” was #25 on the Adult Contemporary chart.

The Power of Idol
Jason Mraz’ “Geek in the Pink” made its first appearance on the Hot Digital Tracks chart at #39 and the Hot Digital Songs at #45 thanks to Chris Richardson’s performance of the song last week. Keane’s “Somewhere Only We Know,” which was introduced to many Idol viewers by Blake Lewis, remained on the Hot Digital Songs chart at #70.
Upcoming New Releases
I’ve just learned of a new Idol-related CD set for release this month. Watch for the Blades of Glorysoundtrack featuring none other than Bo Bice on the title track. Apparently, this is the “top secret” song that he has been working on. The CD will be released on March 27. Good for you, Bo!
It looks like Kimberley Locke's Based On A True Story is finally scheduled for release, at least according to Amazon, which has a May 1 date posted. Of course, that can still change, but I hope this is correct. The timing is excellent for this one, considering that at the time of release, Idol will be in its most intense weeks, and Kimberley will be in the heat of things on Celebrity Fit Club. She might even have a chance to sing "Changes" on Idol.
