What did you guys think of AI 6? I really am so excited to see if AI 6 will have better singers than AI 5 ... I know that none will be better than Kat ... Katharine McPhee is still the best! Huhuhuhu

 

After watching the Minneapolis auditions, I feel that Randy is a little mean this season ... Anybody else watch the auditions?

I've watched AI since it began.  I don't think I've missed an episode.  Honestly, the show will never be the same after Kat.  It felt weird watching it last night.  I look at the whole show with a different perspective now.

I'm still at the point where I can't remember anyone's names. There's a discussion going over at Idolswild about all this stuff. Anybody been there yet?

When the gal with the big hair sang Over The Rainbow, I was waiting for Simon or somebody to say "Well, you're no Katharine McPhee," but they didnt. I did see a performance they'd captioned "Is this the next Katharine McPhee?" though. (It wasn't, if you're wondering.)

Don't these people have to get past the producers before they even see The Triumvirate? How on earth do some of them manage? They can't even stay on key. At least The Cowardly Lion was funny and had the distinction of rendering Simon totally speechless. So far it's fun but I'm not really engaged.

Oh, sure I was watching it, and who's up for a pool?  Let's see how accurate people are because I know people say they picked Kat out to be a contender at the beginning last year, but did they really?  I know I did, I totally remember Kat and Paris and picked them to be in the Top 12.  Also, ya'll gotta give the fresh crop a chance, they're will never be another Kat because there's only one Kat - so get over your bad selves. 

I'm a nerd and I'm taking notes on who made it that they've shown on TV, so if you're up for a little fun competition - let's go!  I'll post the people from last nite later, as that info. is at home.  Also, FYI - 17 made it to Hollywood from Minneapolis, but only seven of those auditionees were televised. 

 

 P.S.  If someone is good at designing this pool, that would be awesome.  The rules should indicate either Top 24 and Top 12, and once narrowed down to the Top 12 an elimination pool could be created.  Anyone who successfully predicts the Top 12 would get bonus points, idk - just thinking out loud.

American Idol Season 5...nothing will ever beat it. I cannot even watch this season. I don't think..I am serious..you guys..there will never be a season with so much talent..from everyone. Everyone was talented last season..and of course..Katharine was the biggest part of the season.

I guess that is my problem, too. No Katharine. I just watched Oprah with Simon Cowell and he said he is not impressed by the "talent" on season 6. He also said he would not have had Taylor win.

Heactually said that the contestants have all become fully aware of what the stakes are, so many of them were exceptionally nervous and probably some good talent was sent home. He also said that tonight's show in Seattle was probably the worst.

From last night, maybe 2 will make the top 24.

Cool, Candice - now, just need to figure out how to structure the pool.

Also, guys ya gotta get out of the Kat bubble . . . Season 5 is over, Kat is not in the competition, there will only be one Kat, no one can replace her, etc.  Some of ya'll are cracking me up.     I don't mean to sound harsh, but there's no sense pouting over something that ain't gonna happen.  As of right now, the strongest group of contestants is from Season 5, no doubt.   But, it's a new season and it's time for the fun and competition to begin!!

I'm in as well, and if I win I am going to apply for a job in the A&R dept. of one of the majors. Katharine McPhee has spoiled American Idol for many avid fans.

The girl who sang SOTR was pretty good and if the Shakira clone can adapt, I think those two may make it to 24. Also maybe the 16 year old Paris similarity. The Lion impressionist was definitely the funniest so far.
It seems there were 10 others who made it to the Hollywood round that we didn't see.

I was kinda bored with last night...personally I dont care too much for the bad singers, I like seeing the incredible ones. A few of them were pretty good, but overall I wasnt very impressed.

I was soo excited about last night.. but then i realized that kat wasnt going to be there and the excitement kinda went away . Yes its fun to watch people make ass's of themselves at first but for two hours??

I couldn't concentrate on the singers at all, I found myself watching Paula nod in and out the entire show. She seemed totally out of it to me during the little time they actually had her on camera. Anyone else notice that? As far as the "talent" last night, didnt see anyone I think will be in the top 12. It really does crack me up because most of these people think they really sing well. Amazing.

It really is amazing that Paula feels the necessity to self-medicate before these shows.  lol

I know ... 2 hours of those tuneless singers? Man ... seriously ... I've got headaches watching the show ... shouldn't they show more of the good singers too? Hahahaha ... I really don't understand how can some of these people made it this far ...

I haven't watch the Seattle audition yet, but so far ... the only one that I think is good is the Navy guy ... can't remember his name though ... but still ... none can match the talents of AI 5 contestants ...

Co Baby ... I think its gonna be fun ... count me in...

And yup ... I really miss Kat ... now I found myself watching Kat's AI performance videos all over again ... my McPheever is still going strong ... hahahahaha ...

Aaaa! Ryan said that bcoz he got the McPheever too, margareth! And it's maybe going strong without we'all even realize.. Kat is the one for me.. I'll just watch (not hysterically like i did when watching Kat).. I still love my heart.. I had enough heart-attacks.. LMAO!

I totally miss our Kat there in AI, with her singing and dancing. God, i will not forget those moments of her in AI. About last night, i really feel bored watching AI 6. I mean, AI 5 is way better than AI 6.

I have never seen a worse bunch of crybabies in my life, and I include myself. We will not find another Katharine on American Idol. She is unique, but the challenge is to enjoy the show for what it offers.

If the auditions in Seattle are an indication, the pickings are dreadful. I never could figure why they chose some of the people unless they were getting desperate with the lack of talent. Really, the only good singers were the brother and sister kids. She has attitude and good stage presence. He is a better singer, but is very shy and nervous and will probably crack before the top 24. The girl will probably make the top 24, but it will totally depend on the competition if she will go beyond that. These are really the only two that I could see as potentially advancing.  The giraffe (6'7") is good, but not better than JHud or Mandisa, so she is a possibility for the top 24 but not further than that..

The judges were interesting, though. Randy was more aggressive than ever, Paula was smashed and they made Simon appear fair and professional.

The problem I'm having is the bad auditions.  That's 90% of what they are showing and the novelty of that for me wore off at the begining of season 2.  It was funny the first season, but by the second time around I just found myself wanting them to get to the real singers.

I am so with you on this one, Bigshady. I actually felt bad, uneasy, uncomfortable watching the judges tear some of these kids apart last night. Some of it was downright mean. I love a talent contest . I think most of America likes to be entertained. Last night was NOT entertainment. I turned the channell, found it disgusting. If they don't come up with some credible people pretty soon, they will lose this viewer permanently.

don't expect anything close to another katharine mcphee,kat is 1 in a million,  Idol is a joke so far, where do these people come from, they must be trained to act like that, or just plain crazy to think they can sing!

I totally agree with the comments on the bad auditions.  It's actually becoming downright cruel, especially with the guy with the bug eyes and the heavy-set guy with his pants pulled
