I ripped the FLV stream from the Los Angeles Fox affiliates site and converted it to AVI format, if you want a copy that is smaller than Shady's version or can't stream video, you might want this:

Diff, CRB, any of you techies out there.  I'm having a little trouble with the interview portion.  There is a glitch in the recording on my DVR at the 1:06 mark (when Kat goes to hug Jillian).  When the .ts file is played back it experiences the glitch and then goes back to normal...no problems.  But after converting with avi.net the audio is way out of sync from the point of the glitch to the end which is pretty much the whole thing (total run time is 11:49).  I tried converting a second time, and I also tried capping a new .ts and converting that one, but to no avail.

I'm uploading the clip now to megaupload (it was too big for sendspace 376MB).  Is there a fix, post conversion, that will sync it back up?  The other option I suppose is to cap 2 separate files.  I'm not sure what I can do with MPEGEncoder because I'm not using it anymore since the free trial period expired (they want $60 to renew ).  I've just been going straight from capping (.ts files) to avi conversion mode which is why you see funky looking endings on my vids as of late.

TQ Mark. The picture quality of your downloads was far superior to CRB's, thanks, too.  But, I could not get any audio from yours  as I could from CRB's.    Another natural and good interview of Kat being herself, a Valley girl and not yet being caught up in her own celebrity!

We are definitely working together -- working on a record together. She sings so magnificently, it's just amazing -David Foster-

I have very little  experience in this area Shady but my guess is if diff can get his hands on the file he could fix the sync issue in the sound by clipping it at the point the problem occurs and synchronizing the volume on the 'bad" part and then patching them back together.  Well, that is my best guess on how it would be done.  MegaUpload is going to have to make nice with you first though.

I've broken the interview into two parts due to the audio-sync problems.  I'm hoping 'someone' will be able to splice the two parts together.

Here's part one: http://www.sendspace.com/file/9cz2cs

Ok then.  Finally!   Part two: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9VIP2PWA

Thanks Shady for all this work. I feel your pain. I can take a look at the clips, no problem. Fixing it is another matter! From the size of your AVIs, I guess this was off of HD Fox?

Edit+ Trying the suggestions in my post 2 posts down might save you some (or a lot of) pain.

I guess you already tried mpeg2repair to spit out a new ts and then use avi.net on that ts?  To fix, I would need the following: 1) the whole original ac3 audio and 2) audio and video of just the region around the glitch. Here's the obligatory post-padding I am renowned for:

For 1) just run DGindex, open the defective TS, and do File > Demux audio only. Perhaps rename the AC3 file to "OriginalAudio.ac3"

For 2)
Run DGindex and open the original captured TS
Move the slider bar to the beginning of the glitch
Press the left arrow key on your keyboard oh about 5 times
Click the [ button in the DGindex window
Move the cursor to the end of the glitch
Press the right arrow key about 5 times
The gray part of the slider bar should show up only around the glitch
File > Save project and demux video
Rename the M2V and AC3 files that are created to "glitchregion.m2v" and "glitchregion.ac3."
Upload the M2V and the two AC3 files from both 1) and 2)

Unfortunately, sometimes I find that the audio and video drift further and further out of sync for certain caps (even without glitches), so it's not always a matter of just aligning them at one point in time. We'll just have to see.

If the M2V and AC3 don't work out, I might ask you to trim the TS using HDTVtoMPEG2. Did you ever install that program?

I have zero experience with this myself! I've been lucky with the cable dropouts so far. (knock)

Barlo, the 2nd link works for me. Short but funny clip there!

Really, I figured that you might have had some this issue at some point.

Back in the day,  I had a full AI5 episode from a torrent (back when I was looking for a good Kat audition clip) and the audio was out of sync on it, and as you said the audio essentially drifted and shifted further out as the clip went on.  Luckily,  I got the opportunity to punt on the issue when I found a better torrent to download so I never took it any further than getting Virtual Dub Mod and playing around enough to figure out that it was a real pain in the rear to fix audio problems.

Yup, if you are lucky enough to avoid the problem, you don't have to deal with it!

HEY SHADY!
I just thought of something. It might be simpler for you to just make a new cap starting at a point after the glitch. You might have to sacrifice a several seconds to get far enough away from the glitch so that the TS becomes "normal". Just play around with a few short caps and you should be able to get a TS in which the audio and video have resynced themselves.

Edit+  hmm. Maybe you already did this?
