I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread yet on Dreamgirls . . . so I shall create one. Well, I must say this movie is INCREDIBLE!!! It has totally lived up to the hype, I saw it on Christmas night and loved it. I do think Jennifer Hudson will (or at least should) receive an Oscar nomination for her part, she was amazing. Jennifer is definitely the new Aretha, this girl has a power voice and sings with passion! The whole cast is good Beyonce, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx and the others. I highly recommend going to see this movie, if you've seen it post your commentst.

I think I have a favorite right up there with Chicago and All That Jazz. The audience I saw it with loved it and whooped and clapped at different points and I joined in with them. I heard Hudson might be nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actress but since she really almost carried the show I don't know how they could do that. She surely deserves something. That's a bit of an overstatement, but she certainly was the one role that, if miscast, would have doomed the whole movie. It really was ensemble work at its best. Everybody was fantastic. Somebody had to tell me that Eddie Murphy could sing, though. I thought it was interesting how they managed to keep Beyonce subdued in every way until she needed to emerge as stunning in looks and also in voice--right after Curtis tells her she sang lead because her voice had no character, so I suppose she didn't overpower the group as a whole. Then she sang a song that just blasted you out of your seat--not for volume but for emotion. The main characters were nuanced enough that you couldn't just plain love or hate anybody, they all had flaws but still, you were rooting for them, and you had sympathy even for the ones who sometimes did unsympathetic things. And the music was something else. I was tapping my foot from the moment I sat down. Go see it!

Dreamgirls was probably my favorite movie of the year. Or at least second, to "the Pursuit of Happyness." The former was so much fun, the soundtrack is simply awesome, and Jennifer Hudson truly becomes a star before your eyes. It was amazing to have people around me clapping when she finished singing. You definitely have to see it. "The Pursuit of Happyness" is so sad, but the ending is definitely uplifting. It's one of those so-inspirational-it-should-be-cheesy movies, but the fact that it's based on a true story makes it so real. Will Smith is incredible and his son is absolutely adorable.

She won on GGA.. And I saw everybody was amazed by her that night.. I could feel the emotion too! I never saw her on Idol nor on Dreamgirls.. But I saw on trailer she actually pretty good! Im so happy for her! She's so talented!

I loved that movie!!! WOW, JHud is amazing...she just took over that movie, by the way, who is Beyonce??? LOL I was completely moved inside and felt the incredible emotion she put out there on "I'm not going" and the audience even clapped!! I'm really looking forward to more of her and can't wait to see what she does with her CD!
