Thanks for the congrats keefir1 and Joe for running the pool again. Without the pool, I'm afraid I might not have the urge to continue watching after Pia's elimination. Watching the finale last night reminded me of S5 when they showed the fans of Scotty and Lauren in their hometown live. You can see how big the crowd of Scotty in the stadium compared to Lauren's. She didn't stand a chance. Oh, I have to mention that J-Lo is a hell of a performer. Consider her age, she's in really good shape. Other than that, I enjoyed the duet of Lauren and Carrie. I really think Lauren should sing more Carrie's song. They are a perfect fit for her voice and style.

So, now I'm looking forward to X-Factor. Hopefully it'll be a fun and exciting one, I trust in Simon. Are we consider doing something for the X-Factor?

If there was Twitter when Katharine was on Idol...I'm sure she'd have more followers than Haley does right now.
 

X-Factor...has anyone besides me watched the British version?  I really like it.  The performances are more like you'd see at a concert than they are on Idol.  They'll have dancers and elaborate stage set-ups, it's fun to watch.  Plus, Simon is totally different because he has his group that he's mentoring so he roots for them.  Anyway, I'm not thrilled about Paula being on there but I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Cheryl Cole so....

Oh and I agree about the hometown shots for Lauren & Scotty. That was your sign that she might be in trouble despite being the better singer the night before. Although as I think we know by now...it doesn't matter what you do in the finale. The people that vote have made up their mind already.

Do you know that Cheryl Cole won't be in X-Factor because Fox claims that the American would not understand her heavy British accent? Well Simon has it too and I personally don't have a problem understanding her. How much more can we understand Paula? Rumors reported that Paula is the one who has a problem with her hiring.

 

Paula is a whack job.......anyone read what happened to her friend Kara Dioguardi when she was house sitting for Paula?Poor Kara fell out of bed and wound up hospitalized..as was Paula's maid!Article from CNN:

Yeah, I know all about the Cheryl thing...it's obvious that the reason is because Paula didn't get along with her or I guess Cheryl didn't get along with Paula since apparently Paula is more important than everyone else.  If Cheryl's accent was really the problem they wouldn't have hired her to begin with.  I'm not sure why Simon is marrying himself to her like this.

Anyway, so I see that Jennifer Lopez is unsure about coming back to Idol next year.  Nice of her to use Idol to rebuild her career and then potentially leave it after one season.  Unless this is just a negotating ploy to get more money out of FOX.

Or a "I'm breaking up with you first" if she only has a one-year contract.

I didn't think the judges really mattered when they started leaving and everyone was all concerned. And I still don't. I like most of them and disagree with them sometimes and am really interested in the contestants.

I don't know how many people were going to want to play an Idol Season 11 pool anyway but...I'm not going to do it this year. Running the pool requires me to pay more attention to the show than I want to this year. I'm still watching it but I because I'm very competitive I REALLY watch it (especially early in the season) to figure it all out and those 5-hour weeks from Top 24 to 12 are hard on me because I don't get home until late and then I feel like I have to watch right then or I might hear something before I see it and that's no good and then...

Not to mention with all the Smash stuff going on...it almost feels like it's fitting to close the door on Idol on this site. So I'm sorry if anyone is disappointed. It's been fun doing it for five seasons.

Hey Joe.....wanted to express my appreciation for all the fun years with the pool!

All good things must come to an end,but even without the pool,I'm sure we'll still be commenting on the competition.....looks like there are some great singers that have blown us and the judges away.

I totally understand about the time commitment. I feel the same shift to Smash, although it won't need to be judged and ranked. There are a lot of interesting contestants in AI this year, but I won't be able to remember them until Hollywood week - next week!
