HERE'S A RUNNING SUMMARY OF EVERYTHING IN HERE SO FAR, FOR THE BENEFIT OF THOSE WHO LIKE SUCH THINGS.

The reality of Katharine’s life is very exciting right now, but those of us who still like to speculate and invent are busily filling up the fan fiction forum. Take a look.

I hadn't checked this for quite awhile.  Good to see some people are out there reading these.  I haven't had anything come to me for awhile.  Hopefully, I can figure something out and share it with everyone.  In the meantime, we do have a new Groucho-written one due pretty soon.  At least it should be soon...or is it here and I missed it?

It usually helps me a lot if I can visualize the characters I'm writing about, and I do know pretty much what most of the Rainbowlanders look like and sound like, but I haven't got Pookie quite clear yet. Every time I see a picture of Shiloh Pitt, I think that's probably something like what Pookie looked like when she was that age (in her "why doesn't she talk?" stage). Now I'm trying to figure out what she looks like as an adult, just for the heck of it. Maybe something like Amy Smart in Butterfly Effect? The other day I saw a picture of Michelle Williams that could almost be her. She's the blonde Nordic Aryan one in the family.  Well, on reflection, I guess there is more than one, mostly from the McDonald side of the family, but the McPhees all seem to be a dark-haired bunch.

After the story is up, I invite anyone who gets a notion to post a picture that seems to fit the girl in the story.

When I was putting the final edit on, I got to thinking about Harmony and her "baby daddy" meeting at a 40's party and that, plus the fact that I love the song, yielded a title of "Everything Old Is New Again." I wonder if somebody's got a vid of Anne Reinking's version from  All That Jazz up on Youtube... I should go look. One of my all time favorite things.

Yup, there it was. I love it. I think that woman has the longest legs I've ever seen. She has an almost arachnoid way of using them that doesn't even quite seem human. She is amazing. Or was when she did this anyway. I wonder how involved she is with the Broadway Theater Project and if Katharine ever met her.

Harmony Grits? That one just hit me.

If anyone's following these things, I just wrote one whole page of Rainbowland X (that's 10, it's not x-rated), which I think of in my head as The Hitman Story. Maybe that will be the title. I have no idea where it's going, but at least there are words on the page. Stay tuned, news at eleven.

By the way, shinamarih, whatever happened to the story you've been promising us for two years now? Huh? Huh?

So Groucho,did writing those captions help you overcome your writer's block?That's a good thing 

I don't really get permanent writer's block, at least not when I have some kind of mania running in the background, like katfandom. Something always stirs my brain sooner or later. If you like to write, eventually you find something to write about or you go nuts. Not that anyone could tell the difference in my case.

Although I admit to voting for my own submissions in the photo contest, there is one caption that just cracked me up when I read it, and it was someone else's. I shoudn't say anything until it's all over though.

THAT REMINDS ME--I NEED TO GO VOTE AGAIN!!

And Hitman is pretty much done at this point. I'm not sure I like what I did with it, but that's what I get for reading biographies and murder mysteries simultaneously. They fuse in my mind and produce weird offspring.

The Rainbowland Series

1. Rainbowland:  Katharine prepares to take brief leave of her future family to conquer Broadway, with a couple of short trips down memory lane to the Idol Tour. 
2. The Tour Zone : Katharine deals with a distressing "blast from the past" and meets a mysterious stranger on the Idol Tour.
3. The Kat Who Came Home:  Katharine’s family, friends, and fans have an adventure at Staples Center at her homecoming concert.
4. A Step Beyond The Rain: Katharine is recording her first CD, going on tour again, and getting in trouble because she doesn’t follow her own advice to listen to the voice within.  
5. It’s All Coming Back To Me Now :  A few career disappointments lead into a whole new phase of her life (the mommy track), and then she learns that sometimes stumbling blocks turn into stepping stones, and a delay just means something better was waiting
6. Old McDonald Had A Christmas : In which Katharine is dealing with a cranky husband and feuding toddlers and has to pull some tricks out of her hat to turn Bah Humbug into a Merry Christmas.
7. Identity Crisis:  In which Katharine's "civilian" husband learns a few things about show business, the perils of the Internet, and the extent of his own jealousy; Katharine meets science fiction fandom; and the reader meets an evil celebrity blogger, one of K's old boyfriends, and some show business personalities who escaped from HBO into Rainbowland.
8. See Me, Feel Me, Touch Me, Heal Me:  In which K. has to face some of her worst fears about her children; Chris reflects on an earlier time in their relationship when they both needed healing in the wake of a couple of disastrous relationships and as usual turned to each other.
9. Mamma Mia:  A new member of the clan reminds Katharine that it can indeed be a big, bad old world and kids need all the love and protection they can get. Then when Rainbowland overlaps the Charmed Universe, a grown up Pookie is in for the fright of her life.
10. The Hitman:  In which the McDonald/McPhee clan deals with the loss of a friend and mentor, and the word "murder" even comes up!
11. Faultline:  This one is so close to being finished that I'm adding a blurb now. Here's the foreword I put on it:  "Los Angeles, 20+ years from now in an alternate timeline where Katharine is married to her first childhood crush and has two grown daughters who are in college...but the siren call of show business is still working its old black magic on the McPhees." Katharine is considering a movie role she's not sure about, and both kids are trying to figure out their place in the great grand scheme of things. The younger one, as usual, is driving Mama totally bonkers.

Bunnyland (spinoffs from The House Bunny)

1.  I have no idea if there will be any more than just this first one, which is titled "Everything Old Is New Again," because someone from Harmony's past reappears (gee, I wonder who that could be?) and also because of how they met.

Some people sure have a funny definition of "almost finished," since I just finished this one up two days ago.   It needs to be looked at by some eyes other than mine, then here it comes.
