I'll just let y'all check this one out for yourselves. I'm not good at spotting hoaxes but this looks legit. (I've fallen for every joke post at this site for the past year.)

Hope this is true!
Kat can use the music exposure since they're not releasing more singles.

Well, this release could be great or a bust. Of course the Kat/Elliott duo (if it appears) should be outstanding, but it is essentially a Randy Jackson release.... kinda one of those "with guests" albums. I just hope that every other song isn't a Journey song!!!!!

No tracklisiting as yet,but the genre is JAZZ and the CD releases in January!! Kat and Elliot were the best singers in the competition and I'm guessing their voices will blend well!Hopefully, this would assure a guest spot on AI for the duo and maybe put an end, once and for all, to the ongoing, inane Kat/Elliot competition!!!

People Get Ready

What's up everyone!

It has been an amazing year for Idol! We are crowning our Idol this week and I have a feeling the ladies will be happy. All the past Idols will be in the house including Kelly, Carrie, Elliot, Taylor and a huge special guest! Vote, watch and show Idol some love this week!

After Idol is over I'm back working on my new album! So far I've recorded tracks with Jason Mraz, Elliot Yamin, Katherine McPhee, Brian Mckinight, Travis Tritt, Rich from Big and Rich and many more! The Dawg has been busy but I can't wait for you to hear all this new music!

That's it for now...Holla,
Randy.

From Randy's blog, evidently. Looks like this one's been in the can for a long time now...   Another post in this thread suggested that the title was "Real Love."

My two favorites from season 5. It would be fun seeing them do this one live... except they'd have to stand Elliott on a box because you know K. is going to have on 4" heels. Okay, sorry, no rotten tomatoes, I even voted for Elliott once or twice. I'd slip him a couple of votes and then spend the rest of the time voting for Katharine. Well, who knew he was going to get into the top 3? Some really good singers got voted off early.

Love Jane Monheit...as I recall,it was Jane's rendition of OTR on which Kat partially based her own interpretation of the song that is still charting to this day!! I would hope for Kat to eventually use her talent to create jazzy interpretations of standards ala Jane M.....that would be pure bliss!!!!

Actually, the arrangement that Kat did on idol was a combination of Jane's version along with Eva Cassidy's.  I still call Kat's version as one of the best ....ever.

That's very cool, if it's indeed true. It'll be great to hear Kat doing something new and should help to end the rivalry between some fans.

YAY! I am SOOOO excited!!!!  I have a major crush on Elliott and I just love him  And OF COURSE I'm mad about Kat like we all are  so...well...THIS IS LIKE A DREAM COME TRUE!  I can't wait to here more!!!! I also read Jan 29, 2008 for the release date of the album. I also just heard "If Not For Love" could be the possible title of the song, written by Jolie Kim Cantade and performed by KATHARINE MCPHEE AND ELLIOTT YAMIN!  If this is the writer and the song it will probably be a jazzy, R&B sorta song

Met my Idol, Kristy Lee Cook on 9/3/08!!! =]

"Chloe, it sounds so cliché but I tell everyone to pursue whatever they dream of doing as long as you know you can be really good at it. That being said, there are so many forces that influence a career path-family, having to make a living, goals etc. I was very blessed that I had an opportunity through a TV show to get a “break”. The rest is really hard work and keeping up with my voice and acting and making sure that I can totally trust the people around me. It’s a very interesting world, entertainment business, so stay true to yourself and work hard on your gifts." - Katharine McPhee

I would agree with you on that, GB3535.  I think that Kat's version of OTR, as sung on Idol & on the single that was released, IS the best rendition of OTR that I've ever heard.

Still makes me stop & listen to it even today, whenever I happen to get the urge to pop it in my CD player & give it a spin!  Love it, Love it, Love it!!

I read that Randy said the Kat/Elliot duet is"HOT"(?dawg?)The song title is:If Not For Love by Jolie Kim Cantade.I can't wait and hope this track leaks before the release date.

There's also a budding rumour that Kat will be singing on the soundtrack of IKWBL;possibly a cover of the title song....could it be that's the reason they changed the title?

Is the title song going to be a cover of the Waitresses song... "I know what boys like"??????  I hope not, as that song doesn't require much vocal finesse...  Just wondering.

Well fer pete's sake, when you've got somebody in your cast who can sing, why not let them do at least part of the soundtrack? IKWBL is kind of a stupid song, but it's rhythmic and catchy and certainly fits now that they've changed the title.

I don't know if any other cast member sings, but Kendra Wilkinson, who made a cameo along with Hugh Hefner's other 2 girlfriends, was just in the finals of MTV's Celebrity Rap Superstar competition. A rap edition of I Know What Boys Like might be interesting (although Kendra's not all that great a rapper). It would be nice if Kat sang that song on the soundtrack, but I hope it wouldn't be a single.

Well, if Kat does a remake of the original Waitresses song, it has a bad "vibe" for me.  I know the original was fun and flirty and spoken/sang expertly by Patty Donahue.  But everytime I hear that song, I can't shake the vision of Patty singing the song.  She had a hard life and died w-a-a-a-y too young.  On the other hand, if Kat did it, she would probably be one of the few people that could shake my vision of Patty Donahue doing the song.  So, it may be a good thing.

How could they resist playing that song over the end credits while interspersing outtakes of Katharine and her jellybelly?

The list of songs at ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) has at least 5 variations of Kat's name, and "Katherine McPhee" pulls up some interesting entries. "If Not for Love" appears to be the collaboration. Oddly enough, 2 standards are listed as well.

KATHERINE MCPHEE
1. BEWITCHED BOTHERED AND BEDWILDERED
   (Title Code: 321966398)
2. COULDN'T SLEEP
   (Title Code: 332272536)
3. IF NOT FOR LOVE
   (Title Code: 392183092)
4. THAT'S ALL
   (Title Code: 503081990)

I have a hard time imaging IKWBL performed any other way from the original, except maybe as a rap, which is why I threw that out earlier. I'm not sure Katharine could make that song "her own."

BTW, here's the Jane Monheit version of OTR for those unfamiliar with it/her.

Hmmm, I think I'd go with ASCAP on this one. McFoster & his wife wrote a song called "If Not for Love," which was the ending song of a 1991 movie and was included on smooth jazz artist Carl Anderson's album in 1992. I'm not familiar with either recording, but it makes sense to me.

http://www.warrenwiebe.com/pages/h_los_angeles.htm

Warren sings the end-title song, "If Not For Love", for the movie "One Good Cop". The movie features a score by David Foster.

Carl Anderson:

Fantasy Hotel (CD, Album)   GRP 1992

Lyrics to "If Not for Love":
http://www.fozfan.com/index.php?pid=310

EDIT: Maybe Kat has 3 songs on the Dawg's new album. In those ASCAP listings, Elliott isn't involved in "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" or "That's All", so he wouldn't be mentioning them in his chat. ("Couldn't Sleep" is probably a duplicate citation of BBaB.)

EDIT #2: A 30-second sample of the Anderson version can be found at the following page. It's definitely up Elliott's alley.
