I can't avoid these. I give up. Besides, I have to listen to some of the dialogue 3 times before I'm sure what I'm hearing. New song "Smash" - this is a killer, if anyone ever thought Karen didn't know how to project sex onstage, just watch. Although there is one part that is almost slapsticky and kinda funny. Well, I grant you, this is pretty in-your-face and by no means intimate, but she certainly is being a bombshell.

This one says that Ivy is "reeling" from the revelation that she slept with someone who may have been a misc. warm body to her, but was a very familiar warm body to someone else of her acquaintance. Revelation? Derek really does have some kind of feelings for her. I don't think even he understands them. Well obviously he doesn't, he's emotionally stunted in some ways. He seems to have some knowledge of how to manipulate other people's emotions, he recognizes them intellectually, he just doesn't join in the parade himself. Derek likes being in control. He does not like messy stuff like heartbreak. |

Hints about the finale. "Somebody" is going to have us on our feet cheering after the final number. It damn well better be Karen! And so many hints here and elsewhere about "somebody" emulating Marilyn. Will Karen take Derek's advice, find her spine, and set the world on its ear? Set it spinning, that'll be just the beginning? Curtain up! Light the lights! We've got nothing to hit but the heights! And who, oh who, could possibly be pouring out a bunch of pills into her palm? This is a lot more applause-worthy than just watching someone take pills and go, I have to give them that. To me, it sounds a lot like Let Me Be Your Star, at least in places, and the words are certainly reminiscent, like they were trying to tie the beginning and ending of the show together. It must do Julia good to be mad, becaues she certainly turned out a good song, and Michael certainly inspired a nice one with History is Made At Night as well. She needs drama in her life. |
